    Today's shave: Sunday September 18, 2016

    Ernst Scharff Rapide
Rapide blade (8 shaves since hone)
    Whole lotta Tabac

Been a while since I used one of my Rapides - nice to get back to it. This is one of the original ESF Rapides with the adjustable blade holders. This Rapide holds the blade much closer to perpendicular to the handle than the later models.

This blade may be the sharpest one I have. When the razor first touched my face a number of thoughts immediately went through my mind: "Wow! This thing is sharp!" "Lots of audible feedback." and perhaps most importantly, "Be careful!" This is not the time to let ones focus wander.

Tabac is one of the more polarizing scents, to put it mildly, but nearly everyone agrees that the soap makes a great lather, and today it delivered as expected.

I enjoyed a really close BBS shave, and managed to get through 3 passes with no irritation or loss of blood. :happy088:

Wonderful shave with the Schick N1 this morning loaded with a twin blade. Excellent protective, slick lather from the Arko shave cream. Three passes and I am dolphin smooth and refreshed. Have a great day friends. :)

    Blade
    : GEM PTFE Coated
    Razor: GEM Pushbutton
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Lather: Proraso Green
Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD SubZero, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Nice shave this morning. Proraso is so easy to lather. I ended up with beautiful lather that took care of two days growth. The Pushbutton worked very well. One big pass with touch-up and I'm pretty smooth.

    Have a great day!

  12. Menthol Monday Shave
    [IMG]
    Brush- AOS Fine Badger
Razor- PAL InjectoMatic / Schick E3
    Blade- Chinese Schick
    Soap- TSD Killer Queen
    Post Care- Crystal Alum
    Thayers Witch Hazel
    Avon Spicy

Happy menthol Monday! This was the second round for these injectors. I used my Killer Queen soap for a nice menthol chill. Today I used the Schick on my right and the PAL on the left. Great reduction from both sides in the first pass. Equal feel from the second. After three I'm dolphin smooth. I was hoping the alum would give me the winner today but both sides were completely silent. I'm going to have to wait a few hours to decide the winner. Finished off with Avon Spicy. Have a great day folks!

  13. This was the best shave ever with an SE blade.

Seriously, I haven't used this style SE blade in almost a year due to no good shaves (drugstore GEM). Injectors were fine, just not this style. 3 passes and results on par with my best DE shave. No irritation and no nicks. This is also the first time using this razor (Eveready 1914? Patent date), and my only complaint is the angle of the head to the handle.

  14. Another go with a 1914, my second one, unshimmed GEM, with much better results than my previous two shaves with my other 1914. Not yet a favorite but a fine BBS three pass with no dramas. Next time will take another crack at the shim. [IMG]

  17. Wow 'stache......Congratulations on finding Shaving Nirvana.....You deserve it my friend....Beautiful kit...I know you'll be loving these shaves....

Those 1914's are the original "Wild Child".....The feedback is a little undaunting at first for some....So loud plus you feel the vibrations of each whisker cut through the handle....This is one serious shaver's set-up....like a Lamborghini....this one puts you intouch with whats going on, on the surface.....ha,ha....

Marvelous shave with the PAL Adj. fitted with a Dutch Danglies this morning. Easy, slick, rich lather from the Palmolive Cool Menthol shave cream. This is an excellent product and I highly recommend it. The menthol level is a perfect cooling and soothing sensation. Three blissful passes for a dolphin smooth finish. Enjoy your day friends. :)
