I think I said I tried but failed at honing the razor. Glad to see you saved the razor and can shave with it.

I settled in on setting 5 for a long time. Recently upped to #7 and get even better shaves. Staying away from the safety bar, riding the cap!

Each time you try a new razor, give it a minimum of 7 consecutive. This will help you technique stay solid. After the New, almost anything will be an easy adjustment. Welcome to the fun part of wet shaving, the skills have arrived!

A stellar shave this morning was a wonderful start to the day. Three passes and a clean up ends with a near perfect shave. The Reef Point Dragon's Blood is very easy to whip into a rich slick lather. The scent strength is pretty high as well. I can still catch whiffs of the scent well after the shave is over. For me the AlumiGoose V1 is a better shaver than my Mongoose B2. In fact it is very close to the Cobra Classic but not quite as smooth. I finished off with a splash of Fine Platinum which seems to pair well with this soap. I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday.

    Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel splash, Fine American Blend, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Fat Friday! Focusing on using all my SE razors this month has been fun. This Pushbutton has proven to be a great option for me. I've had good shaves from it all this week. The G1 is still my favorite but I think the Pushbutton is definitely my second place SE.

Mitchell's performed well again today, as usual. It's one of my favorite soaps. Fine American Blend is also becoming a favorite.

    Have a great day!

Good morning friends! A bit of a rough shave from the G1 this morning. After the first pass it became apparent that the Chick blade in my G1 was past its prime. After my 3 passes the alum confirmed my suspicions and let me know that a few spots were not happy. Some of my homemade lime AS and Nivea sensitive ASB cooled and soothed nicely. Have a great day my friends!

    Day 30
AoS best badger brush (broken in)
    Proraso Green Shaving Soap Jar
    Gillette New Long Comb
    Astra Superior Platinum Blade.
    Aqua Velva Ice Blue

So, I decided to end this 30 shave streak the same as it began. The only casualty was my razor handle, but I recovered. The floppy AOS badger loaded up and made a great bowl of lather. I rode the cap over all of the curves of my face with a two pass shave, WTG & ATG. No drama, cuts, nicks or weepers. I ended with a warm then cold water splash and some nice sensible Aqua Velva splash on aftershave for a very close DFS. I would like to thank @Bama Samurai for strongly suggesting the 30 day regimen (which I changed to a 30 shave regimen) and also @NCoxSTL for starting these threads every month. I can truly vouch for the value brought to this site by the experienced members as I have taken your advice and gone from a beginner hack (literally) to being able to shave every day now with very good results.

I would encourage any newbie to pay attention to the advise on this board and to start with a regimen of 30 days with the same hardware and software to work on technique. I will now explore some of my other options while still working on my technique and we'll see what Oct. brings for the 30 day rule.
