    Today's Shave: Saturday OCtober 1, 2016

1887 Kampfe Bros Star Lather Catcher
    Kampfe Bros. wedge blade
    Whipped Dog 24mm synthetic brush
Chiseled Face Groomatorium Ghost Town Barber soap & aftershave

I've decided to participate in OCtober - using single edge razors exclusively, of course. I kicked it off today with the oldest razor in my collection, the 1887 Kampfe Bros. Star.

129 years later it's still a great shaving razor. :happy088:

I have no idea when I honed this blade - it's been over a year. I freshened it up with 50 laps on a CrOx pasted strop followed by 20 laps on a FeOx strop and finishing with 60 laps on a plain strop.

This gave me a sharp edge that was still smooth. I ended up with a near-BBS shave and no weepers - not a given with this setup.

I was going to start OCtober today but this was a new arrival so I had to try it out. I've read that these are aggressive razors but it really didn't seem like it. Very smooth and easy to use, I did have to finagle a bit under my nose but I've learned how to do that so not a problem. A very close 2 pass shave. I'm liking it!

Thanks Tom, I gotta agree, it's a great razor. I always stayed away because I read posts about it being super aggressive. False.

I had my best injector shave yet tonight, with the M adj.. The more I shave with these, the more hooked I'm getting on them. They are comfortable as heck, and nimble.

It's taking a little different technique than I am accustomed to with DE's, and taking more time, but tonight I got a nearly perfect shave with a razor that two months ago I was ready to put in the "Den Clearing Box". Too fun!

Hope everybody has a relaxing Sunday before starting another week of the daily grind.

I agree. I never got good results with SEs but am now. I need to revisit my adjustable one of these days.

If you can get hold of one, the J3 Golden 500 is a great shaver. With an NOS Blade, with its long handle
seems like a magic wand, making whiskers disappear.

Exceptional shave this morning with the PAL Injecto-Matic. Wonderful lather from the Proraso shave cream face lathered as always. I had forgotten how good this stuff really is. Three refreshing passes for a dolphin smooth end result. Have a great day friends. :)

    Hi Rob,
What blade are you using in the PAL ? I am getting great shaves with NOS Swedish Schick.

Hi, Mike! I'm using the famed "Dutch Danglies" at the moment but when they aren't available the Schick ("Chick") work beautifully for me as well. :)

    Blade
    : Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick L1 injector
    Brush: Artisan badger
    Lather: Stirling Barbershop
Post: Witch hazel splash, Skin Bracer, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

This is yesterday's shave. Just now getting around to posting after a very busy day! This was a nice shave. I'm starting the journey with Stirling Barbershop and will use it almost every shave this month, as voted on by TSD. It will be a great month of shaves as it is terrific soap. I'm finding that Stirling can handle a bit more water than some other soaps. My lather was a tad dry to start off with yesterday but I added some more water when face lathering (more than usual) and got it to a nice state. One good thing about using a soap over and over is that you figure out exactly what to do to make tremendous lather with it.

The Schick L1 injector will be my razor for the whole month. I'm looking forward to that as well. This was a nice shave. I'll probably not shave today as Sunday is my lazy day. Hope you all have a good day!

I prefer the Japanese Chick, which are similar to cost of Chicks if brought in UK. On your side of the water, the Chicks are the obvious choice cost wise.

Vintage Micromatic blade put to use after only hand strops and boy howdy smooth enough for BBS full monty (cold water) beard and head shave. I know some people find the MMOC super aggressive or harsh, just not my experience. [IMG]

    This afternoons shave.
ESF Rapide and a fresh Heljistrand wedge. The blade has never been sharpened. I spent some time trying to set the bevel. Then after close examination I determined that the edge is warped in the center. So needless to say it will not take an even bevel. I finished honing it and gave it a whirl.

Super smooth 2 pass shave. DFS

The G is a really nice shaver. I caught the dolphin tonight and did it without any irritation at all on my neck. My E-2 comes tomorrow! Stoked!!!
