Received a big box... ..and inside was this, subjectively, handsome beast - the Merkur Vision 2000. Discontinued in 2014. This was the first time I saw a Vision in person and I was pleasantly surprised at that even though this is a huge razor it still felt very well balanced and comfortable to hold... This, should be interesting...
Also received this Gillette Goodwill yesterday. I have rather high re-plate hopes for this one. We'll see in November how it turns out (it will be plated in 24K gold with a high shine). The head looks good - no deep scratches, dents or bent/missing teeth: I am however a bit up in the air as far as the handle goes.. As you might be able to tell in the photo below there is a fine hairline crack at the top of the handle. To my untrained eyes it appears to be a shallow and stable crack so if possible I'd like to keep the original handle with the head as it has the same patent and country information on the handle as on the base plate: We'll see what the re-plating expert comes back with.
Nice razor Darkbulb! I would want to keep that handle too. That razor would look awesome in 24k gold!
Thanks. I already got a small sample (Marrakesh) from a fellow german wet shaver - and I liked it so much that I had to order more Skin care is fantastic indeed. Now I just have to decide on a few scents ... there are so many pleasant ones. I'll share my experiences in the 30 day focus thread - I'm planning on using the Feather exclusively this month. I'm pretty curious myself, since I never used a Shavette before.
It's a copper blank...I can't imagine a little old lady replacing it every time she changed blades, but she said "I loved using it!" And there's no plating loss on the safety bar and head, where it rubs against the skin the most. No injector, though, so that makes me wonder. Only slight rub marks where it had been resting in the box. As close to mint condition as can be, I reckon, and shaves wonderfully (with a Chick, or course).
I got a Stirling green tub with waterproof label to put my Barbershop soap in. I had a different container and wanted to have the proper Stirling look. I also got the Barbershop aftershave splash. I'll be using this combination for most of the month of October. They included a sample of Autumn Glory soap as well. Great folks at Stirling!
Thank you, Mark. Big is definitely true. It will take me a few shaves to adjust to the size, but it actually handles fairly well.
Stirling's barbershop is a great year round soap/aftershave combo, and you will love autumn glory. I am alreafy a big fan

Super excited about today's finds!!! First, some Rolls Razor strop paste/dressing. With directions and sandpaper. Still moist and possibly never used. Also, an Everite Straight Safety Razor. Again, with stone, strop, box, and directions. And definitely NEVER used! Oh, and the Everite can be used as a straight or an SE, per the directions. Thank goodness for dealers having sales. $40 for both. PS, any knowledge on the razor would be great.
