This Guy..He is Honest & the Postage is Cheap & Fast..Mine is a 1970s Job & its Great..He Did Inform Me that the Ones his Customers Hold in High Regard were 1950s Jobs...Be Warned..Some of these Russian SRs are a Serious Challenge to Hone...I Don't Say that Lightly...If You think You Know what Hard Steel is then You Aint Seen Nothin Yet..:happy097:

Tonights shave was a smooth two pass shave. I was in a hurry, and got a small weeper on the chin. My fault.
The Genco Heavy is a very good razor, but I prefer a heavier blade. I think "Heavy" might have been a joke when they made it. It was very light.

    Razor- Genco Heavy
    Brush- Semogue 1800 boar
    Soap- ARKO Sandalwood scented
Aftershave- Vintage Shulton Old Spice. Yum Yum Yum.

That a Corker..A Wee Tip..It will Cut So Slow that You May think its Crap Steel & Not Cutting at All..The Bevel will Take More than a Moment to Set..Just Hone it Like any Other SR but Just Keep Repeating the Sets..It Just takes a Lot Longer to Hone is All..That's it in a Nutshell..Just Persevere & be Patient & it will Get there..:D

Do Not try to Force it to Cut..It will Cut in its Own Time..Remember I Said That..:happy088:

    Boker "Pearl" (2)

I am starting a 30 day focus with my straight razor. The Pearl will be my main razor. As I only have 2 at the moment. There will be very little temptation.

This was my second shave with the razor after getting what I believe is a good bevel and a nice hone. Only time will tell if I was successful.

    A quick question.

I noticed that this shave the blade seemed smoother than the first shave after I honed it. Will it get even smoother after a few more. The first shave did not tug or pull at all. Just thought tonights was a smoother shave.

    Thanks
    Tom

That's a fine one. I had a hard time choosing between that one and this one which I pulled the trigger on (same seller):

Vintage 1961 - the year Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space. I think it's recommended that you drink chilled vodka before shaving with these Russky razors.

first shave with a u.s razor. Genco expert 11/16. impressed with this one.came "shave ready" but the edge had som chipping so had to re hone. killed the edge before i started.it took a new edge in no time, but had to remove the chipping before i progressed. finished on a black ark. had a DFS with this today:)
shave cream was Dr.Harris sandalwood, and after shave was same brand/sent. love the woody, spicy sent.

I Hit a Blade with 100 Laps or So on Leather After Coming Off the Hone Tom..Maybe Another 50 or So After a Test Shave..That Should Set it Up Nice & Smooth there On..:)
