Thanks - that might be the explanation. Never trust an Ebay picture ;)

I ordered a Stirling Finest 26 x 54. Everybody has such good things to say about these knots, and that particular knot is a little bigger than most of my brushes, so I kind of HAD to try one. Bet it's going to have a big ole bloom.

I hit the button on this BIN - it's from 1961 when the Russians put Yuri Gagarin into space to usher in the era of space exploration. Can't wait to get it honed and ready to shave. :happy036:

Thank you very much, Mr. @Darkbulb

I got these on Ebay. Had to get something to use my Ebay bucks. So for me it was at no cost.

Glad I was busy and missed out. I do want to hear how they work when you have them in hand. Weren't they aluminum with chrome plate?

Yeah I think they set the expectations with people pretty well.

    Long version:
"The RazoRock Hawk is CNC machined from 6061 billet and rod aluminum. It's finished in two variations, chrome plating and black anodizing. The chrome version sells for $19.99 and the black version sells for $24.99. The reason for the price difference on the black is because it required some hand finishing prior to being anodized and the anodize finish costs more than the chrome plating. Aluminum was chosen for two reasons; reason number one, it's much lighter, bringing the overall weight of the razor down. These Artist Club style blades are very sharp and a lighter razor gives the user more control over the aggression of the shave; reason number two, aluminum is much faster and less expensive to machine and also less expensive to finish. We felt that a lot of gents were being priced out of the market with the razors from our competitors and we wanted to offer an affordable alternative.

I want to make a quick and clear point about cost. Please do NOT expect perfection with these razors. Although the quality is extremely high, the razor probably will not be absolutely 100% perfect. They are machined and finished to a high user grade, not a jewel piece, the odd mark or blemish can be expected. Keep in mind you are buying a machined razor for $20-25 and nobody else offers such a thing. In all honesty, I'm not 100% sure we'll be able to keep the price this low on future batches because we added steps along the way that increased our cost; profit on these razors, after everything is factored in, is almost non existent. If you are looking for or expecting jewel quality, this probably isn't the razor for you.

When assembling the razor and threading the handle on the post, please make sure not to apply excessive force because aluminum is softer than steel and can cross-thread and be damaged much easier. Aluminum on aluminum can squeak and be a little rough, you can apply a drop of mineral oil to the threads for smoother operation, if desired.
    "
    Short version:
"These are pretty shoddily made razors. If they were DE razors you would never had bought them."

    Me, I bought two

Waiting on a order from Stirling:

    Samples:

    Ben Franklin
    Akadia
    Stirling Spice
    Stirling Gentlemen
    Sand Piper

    MITA Balm

Looking forward to these new scents. Love the performance, so it's just a matter of scent and they all sound nice. And their Balm has many great reviews so I figured MITA would be a nice fresh scent that would be nice in a balm.
