You got that pretty clean. Glad you like it. I should be getting my goodies today. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Knowing it's lacquer over gold over nickle over brass, and built by Gillette I suspected I would enjoy. There's some gilding worn through on the cap, but it seems straight and well adjusted. All used gear gets an overnight soak in Dawn and vigorously toothbrush scrubbed. I also like to lube moving parts with mineral oil. Never held a vintage NOS, but this one operates smooth! Tracking on your incoming package suggests delivery today. Hope you find something to entertain you in the package.
October 6 Razor: Schick Adjustable injector (set on 5) Blade: Chinese Schick Brush: Maggard 24mm Soap: TSD Iced Sub Zero Post: Cold water rinse, Alum block Today I moved the Schick up to 5 for the shave (ignore the picture which was taken before I switched from 3 to 5). Did the same two passes as yesterday. More feedback today from the razor. Even better shave today. Very smooth just like on 3 but even closer shave. Ended today with a BBS shave and the alum was completely silent. Now that is how a shave should be! The picture was processed using an app on my phone and the "Ivan" filter. Figured I better keep the cartel happy somehow since I have completely abandoned using anything Russian for a while.
I would advise leaving the AK-47 at home. Showing up at a party, masked and armed, isn't very heathy these days.
The description can put it off for some, but it is my favorite scent from Stirling. The more I smell it, the more Frankincense I get. Some describe it as a root beer smell, and I can see that, but I get that kind of woodsy Frankincense. I think it is great. Highly recommended.
Razor: Timeless OC w/TRH2 Pineapple Design Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (4) Brush: Elite Razor Tres Amigo Desert Ironwood Beehive w/Envy White Soap: Route 66 Twisted Tweed Aftershave: Fine Platinum The Timeless is a pleasure to use. When accompanied with the TRH2 handle it is very easy to maneuver around trouble spots. I like the 100 mm length also. Finished with a near BBS.
Even if you had declared a Rule it's always acceptable to break it to use an Aristocrat. I have the same model and it is absolutely the best razor I own. While I may promote the Super Speeds and one or two others as being great, nothing beats the Crat, in my very humble opinion. Very nice.
OCtober-een! October 6 Grand Blade Trials Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (9) Blade - (4) Soap - Arko Brush - Semogue 620 Post - Alum, The Veg A very rare 4th shave on a blade today to take the Viking's Sword to 9 on the Slim. When I added the extra shave on it I debated using a new blade today but decided to forge on and see how it did. I'm not disappointed. The first pass felt perhaps a tad rough, but with the Slim wide open you can get that feeling anyway. The first pass was not uncomfortable and clearly effective so I moved on to the XTG. The second pass was very effective and still smooth with just that "edge of blade" feel to it. And, rather than push a third pass I decided to just touch up with the second pass and see where I got. What I ended up with was a very very nice DFS that, with a full third pass, likely would have been BBS. I must say I was impressed. This blade hasn't had that instant "wow" that I got from the Crystal/Qball duo but it clearly handles its job well. I'd have to say it's one that could easily be a part of a rotation for those so inclined. Tomorrow I'm going to roll on into the final Israeli blade, the Tomy. My goal is to finish it up Sunday and take a couple days with OC's to do a complete review of the Israeli lineup to finish it up before moving on. Moving another day closer to the 31st and I wanted to offer a Russian themed costume for any of you with kids. I'm thinking he's either going as a Russian inmate or perhaps one of my boys in the Cartel. Who should probably be, if not arrested, committed at the very least.
Pressure on a pain stick is a guaranteed way to add some color to both your lather and your language. One of the hardest parts for me learning to use one was keeping the pressure off of the end of the razor. I had an issue with my grip getting so tight it was making it impossible to do anything but add pressure. Lots of chanting my mantra of "relax you idiot" finally helped me lighten up. Great work with it though and you'll soon have it mastered!
I read where the "clown community" in Tucson was having a Clown Lives Matter march on the 15th to show the people that clowns aren't psycho killers. Who knew this would ever be necessary?
Razor: Maggard MR18 w/ V3 head Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge Brush: Maggard 22mm Synthetic Soap: Maggard London Barbershop Post: Old Spice Original The razor is 4.21" long, with a moderately aggressive head, and comes in at 93g. I like the weight and feel of it. It feels balanced in my hand and delivers a great shave. The brush is great, it feels great and is really soft. Now all I need to do is work on getting a great lather. Any advice for that, fellas? The soap is bergamot, basil leaf, oakmoss, and white patchouli. The smell reminds me of the barbershop I used to go to when I was a kid. What really needs to be said about Old Spice. Reminds me of my grandfather/adoptive father. Ok, so today was round 2 with the Gillette blade. Either yesterday was an off-day for me shaving wise or the blade got better with the second shave. I ended up doing a three pass shave without a single drop of blood spilt. I got a DFS near BBS for 95% of my face. Sent from my LGLS775 using Tapatalk
Very good! A lot of new wet shavers make the mistake of not incorporating enough water into their lather. The lather should not feel thick and pasty like spackle but rather light and fluffy like whipped cream. If you watch some of the videos on YouTube by Michael Freedberg you will see him slap the side if his brush on his face and what he is doing is listening for a sticky tacky sound, if it makes that sound is still too dry. Give this a shot, when you think you have enough water in your lather try adding just a bit more. Sent from my Galaxy S6 using Tapatalk
