I can get a week's worth of shaves on that blade. What's the worst that can happen, eh? Thanks for the birthday greeting - and I have no "victims". We prefer the term suckers. Um, as in, without them life sucks. Yeah, that's it.
I'm just waiting for the sharpened rock or shell picture! I think that is about you have left to demonstrate.
The cotton balls stuffed under the blindfold will catch any tears and are also within quick reach to address minor accidents.
Even when using less than the best hardware or software, you set the example for proper technique. Happy B-Day Neal!
I would make one change in technique there.....lathering with a brush adds some extra tickle to the process.
October New-to-me & Newbie stuff Departure VDH Luxury Scented, Omega #248 Gillette Red Tip & Voskhod (1) Alum , Aqua Velva Ice Blue Visiting with one of my newbie soaps and a new razor via trade with Tom @twhite . I forgot how much I do like the scent of VDH Lux. Not a good bowl lathering soap, but using a fat boar it face lathers well. Acceptable slickness to my unsophisticated tastes. I installed a fresh blade in what I've been lead to believe is the aggressive cousin to a Flare Tip. Three passes with extra attention to my neck where the Aristocrat/LPL left me less than best. Not following Scientific Procedure because I introduce too many variables, never the less I did get great results from this tool. Very smooth, no blood, and not feeling any irritation. Don't think I'll "need" a Blue Tip except as a collectable. This one's a winner! Alum was cool & only slightly tingly. Aqua Velva too. Good day Y'all
Razor: Timeless OC w/TRH2 Pineapple Design Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (5) Brush: Muhle Chrome Plated Handle 31 M 89 w/ New V2.0 Silvertip Fibre Synthetic Bristle. Soap: Route 66 Twisted Tweed Aftershave: Folsom & Co. Capri This finishes my first 7 days of my Open Comb focus. The is nothing I can say about the Timeless OC that you haven't heard before. This is a fantastic razor in my opinion. The different variety of handles provide by Timeless only adds to the fun. Each handle brings it's own unique personality to the save. None of the Timeless handles are slippery. I do believe you could put your hand in a bucket of oil and easily grip the TRH1. I think the TRH2 maybe my favorite. However there is nothing wrong with the TRH3. Or the TRH4.
From your photos you live in a beautiful area. Not sure I could manage the winters but it sure looks nice unfrozen.
I'm glad the Red Tip worked so well for you. @Douglas Carey gifted me with a Red Tip earlier this year, and I love shaving with it. My experience is similar to yours.
"This is my rifle, this is my gun. This is for fighting, this is for fun. Ooh Rah is a battle cry common in the United States Marine Corps since the mid-20th century. The term means "charge".
Sitting by a wood stove with the fire going and some Brandy helps with the cold. Come for a visit in February.

October 7 Gillette New LC finished in Gun-Kote Bronze by Delta Echo Razor Works Feather blade (1) Kent BK4 brush Tabac shave stick Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Fine Platinum aftershave I began with an extended face prep using plenty of warm water and Stirling Sheep Soap. I think it's a bath soap, but I find it to be very moisturizing and a great pre-shave soap. I went for two passes, but I had enough slick Tabac lather for four. I had a near BBS shave with one pesky weeper over my Adam's Apple. I've been troubled by some small weepers on my neck since I began the 30-day focus. I'll put some extra focus on skin stretching tomorrow to see if I can eliminate them. Small weepers generally don't affect the shave quality, but it bums me out to see them. I finished up with warm water, witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Fine Platinum. The AS was relatively quiet, so overall I consider this shave to be a success. I'm still fairly smooth some 9-10 hours later. My trusty 11-year old Tilley hat (redneck prevention device) sits in the background, and by the way, I prefer the Snark 0.7 mm pick over the Dunlop Ultex Sharp 0.9 mm pick. My heart, thoughts, and prayers for safety go out to those affected by Hurricane Matthew.
