    SHAVE OF THE DAY
    20161007_204208.jpg

    Prep: gustafsons woodlands
    Razor: Gillette ball end tech
    Blade: Ladas SS (2nd shave)

    Brush: Fine Angel Hair Synthetc
    Soap: Stirling- Ben Franklin
Post: Catie's Bubbles LPV aftershave/ Stirling MITA Balm

Got a few Stirling samples in the mail this morning. This Ben Franklin smells awesome, complex and spicy but hard to describe. Paired well with the CB LPV aftershave. Whipped up a creamy lather with the Fine brush, and ended up with a nice refreshing shave. Had to try a dab of the MITA Balm, nice amount of menthol and that nice citrus scent. Hope everyone had a great shave!

Gillette New LC finished in Gun-Kote Bronze by Delta Echo Razor Works
    Feather blade (1)
    Kent BK4 brush
    Tabac shave stick
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Fine Platinum aftershave

I began with an extended face prep using plenty of warm water and Stirling Sheep Soap. I think it's a bath soap, but I find it to be very moisturizing and a great pre-shave soap. I went for two passes, but I had enough slick Tabac lather for four. I had a near BBS shave with one pesky weeper over my Adam's Apple. I've been troubled by some small weepers on my neck since I began the 30-day focus. I'll put some extra focus on skin stretching tomorrow to see if I can eliminate them. Small weepers generally don't affect the shave quality, but it bums me out to see them. I finished up with warm water, witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Fine Platinum. The AS was relatively quiet, so overall I consider this shave to be a success. I'm still fairly smooth some 9-10 hours later.

My heart, thoughts, and prayers for safety go out to those affected by Hurricane Matthew.

    Grand Blade Trials

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (2)
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Semogue 620
    Post - Alum, The Veg

First of all, to all of you who sent birthday wishes, thank you so much. I spend time on Facebook as well and I was happy to note today that I got more birthday wishes here than Facebook and I like that fact. Of course, Facebook is largely my political rant spot so perhaps that has something to do with the difference in the two crowds. But, I digress. I woke up a year older today (well, not officially until 11:31 pm tonight CDT) and with a new and the last of the new Israeli blades on deck. For a moment I thought about switching to a different setup for the day but decided to go forward. I'll break stride to use the new Fatip when it arrives next week. That will be my birthday shave.

The Tomy is a stainless blade and the first thing I noticed about it was.....it's a totally blank blade. No printing or branding on the blade itself at all. The only other blades I've found with absolutely nothing on them were the Van der Hagen Ice Tempered blades, which suck, and the Kai which I really like. Also, the blade feels a bit thicker and stiffer than the rest have. Not sure if there really is a difference or how significant, just an observation that hit me. I have to say, having a blank blade doesn't foster too much confidence, although as I said the Kai is excellent and does the same thing.

First pass on the Slim 2 setting was a bit underwhelming and I debated switching to 3 at that point but decided to persevere. The XTG went somewhat better as far as reduction went. I will say that the blade was providing some audible feedback and was smooth on both passes. It just didn't seem to reduce as much the first pass as the second. ATG and Slide for the final pass and I know it's not going to be BBS. But how far will it go? Seemed like a pretty decent CCS at the time but I held off judging until later in the day. Based on the regrowth during the day up to now I would have to say I made it to DFS this morning. Fairly impressive and, again, a better result than the Reds gave. Not as good as the Crystal/Qball blades but.....it was a good shave overall. DFS and no alum feedback so irritation was nonexistent. I'll take it. We'll dial up to 6 tomorrow and take it for a spin where all of the Israeli's have shown their stuff.

Came home tonight to a steak dinner just coming off the grill by my lovely wife in honor of another trip around the sun together. And, the boys are preparing a small toast for me even as we speak. I think it will be a good night.

Thanks Neal. I appreciate the good words. It and my Red Tip are my two favorite DE razors. Both of them were gifts from fine gents here in the 30-day crew. This razor had a cracked handle when I sent it to Delta Echo Razor Works, and they soldered it. If you look closely in some of the photos, you might be able to spot the repair.

I hope you had fun today on your birthday, my friend. :D

I actually can't remember if it's the 3rd or 4th shave on the Voskhod but nevertheless, still going strong!
P&B is just an amazing soap - easy to lather up and provides excellent performance through and through.
The scent goes great with my Bay rum splash. Can't wait for P&B's upcoming Bay rum soap - it can't be less than a hit for me.
I had 2,5 days of stubble and it was a bit much for the R2 plate on the first pass, but nevertheless finished with a near BBS, as usual, in the end.
Next time I'll probably flip the plate to R4 for the first pass and then use R2 for the remaining.
    Have a pleasant Saturday ya'll!

    RazoRock Plissoft 22mm
    Lea Classic soap
    Schick E2
    Schick NOS Platinum [ 2-Sweden]
    Alum Rub/Rinse off
    Lea Classic A/S Lotion

This is my second Shave with the E2 , and it was better than the first. How any one finds it aggressive I cannot fathom, unless of course they are a bit heavy handed and rush the Shave.Today the shave was ultra smooth , though going ATG on the cheek felt a bit harsh initially. Other than that the shave went very well, and I was even able to get close shave around the neck area.

Definitely vying with the PALs as my favourite Injector, though smoother than the Injecto Matic.

For me, the E is a bit more aggressive than my G or I. I use my E for two pass shaves and it works great for that.
