    Today's Shave: Thursday October 13, 2016

    Razorock Hawk
    Feather AC Pro blade (1)
    Whipped Dog synthetic brush
Chiseled Face Groomatorium Trade Winds soap & aftershave.

The Razorock Hawk is the latest offering from Joe at Italian Barber. It is CNC machined from 6160 aluminum. It is made in chrome and black anodized finish. It uses the Feather Artist Club blades.

It's a smooth shaver, slightly on the mild side but very efficient. I've enjoyed excellent shaves the last two days.

It costs $20 ($25 for the black version). :happy093:

While I can find a few imperfections with the magnifying glass, the chrome plating is actually pretty good. Fit is excellent, with the blade locking into place with no play and perfectly aligned with the guard. No smile to be seen.

Did I mention that it costs $20?

    Call it the "Anti-OneBlade." :happy088:

From left: Cobra Classic, ATT SE1, Alumigoose 2, The General from Colonial Razors, Razorock Hawk.

Pretty amazing, really. Not too many years ago if you wanted a razor using the Feather Artist Club blade you bought a Cobra - if you could find one. Now there are all kinds of choices, with new ones being released on a near-daily basis (or so it seems).

    Blade
    : Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick L1 injector
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel splash, Fine American Blend aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Fat Friday! Nice shave with Mitchell's Wool Fat. Today's lather was really nice and easily face lathered with the Omega boar. One pass with touch-ups around the neck and jaw and I'm ready for the day. Fine American Blend is a terrific scent and is a Friday staple. All in all a nice shave.

    Have a great day!

Aw geez, Bob. You're not helping my RAD any. BTW, what's the General like?

The General looks like a black aluminum version of the ATT SE1. Interestingly, Colonial Razors had a prototype of the General several months before the SE1. The shave is similar to the Hawk and Alumigoose, although the curved head makes it a bit more agile and maneuverable, and allows more latitude in selecting the shaving angle. I'd say it's just a tiny bit more aggressive than the Hawk.

While they each have their own distinctive personalities, every one of these razors is capable of consistently delivering a perfect BBS shave.

Not sure yet. It's interesting that the Super AC blade is oft recommended for the General (it's what I've used) but not for the Hawk (only yet used the Pro). .

A bit of practice with my R. Klaas straight today and did OK on my right cheek. Moving to the left I started to get clumsy so I bagged it and finished up with my trusty 500. The Klaas is a very sharp razor compared to the French Hoffritz I tried yesterday and that made it feel smoother. I like the size and blade style better too.Funny thing they were both honed by the same guy, it was a while ago but neither razor has seen much use since.

Different SRs Take a Different Edge..The Same Guy can Hone 2 SRs for You & One May be Far Sharper than the Other or Less Forgiving etc .Some SRs Just Take a Crazy Sharp Edge..I have to Tell Newbie Folks this when I Hone more that One SR for them..:D

Various things Come into Play..Different Grinds, Temper of Steel, Hard Steel, Soft Steel..Even 2 Full Hollows can Feel Very Different Due to the Weight of a Blade, Thickness of a Spine..Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel & Quality of Grind..The List is Endless..:happy088:

I had a good look at the one and while the bevel is even on one side the other has about 1- 1 1/2 inch that got missed somehow. Explains the tugging. So yeah not as sharp.

Ah..Well..The Bevel Needs Set then..By the Sounds of it Anyway..A Razor that is Tugging is Far from Shave Ready..Unless its Technique of Course..:happy088:
