The L'OCCITANE Cade Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh Bumble Bee brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Micromatic OC razor with a CVS 009 RD blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with T.N. Dickinson's WH and then Pinaud Vegetal After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Grand Blade Trials

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (2)

    Soap - Arko
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Post - Alum

Well this night time shaving is a bit different but I think I like it. My only question is what to do if I wake up and really need a shave to be perfect for work. My plan is a one pass to make it through the day so it doesn't mess up the level of beard for the night time Trial shaves. That should work if needed. I started my morning with a nice Veg splash at the end of my shower. So I"m not missing out there either.

The Grand Blade Trials resume today with the Treet Falcon blade. This is a carbon steel blade I've used before. My memory of it is a bit rusty (no pun intended) but that's probably a good thing. I never forget a horrible blade so this one couldn't have beenthat.

2 on the Slim to get us started and Arko and BoS for the lather. Kind of nice being able to take some extra time on lather in the evenings. And, on a side note, I started this particular Arko stick on July 15th so it's almost three full months and I'll probably go at least another month before needing to change out. That makes my 12 pack a three to four year supply of Arko. Incredible value and lather.

First pass was quite nice. The blade is very vocal, as carbons usually are, and provided ample evidence that it was working. Nice and smooth and trouble free. The second pass, XTG, provided the same feel and effect. And the third pass, ATG and Gillette Slide, finished to a nice DFS. No complaints at all. Carbon blades are a bit old school (ok, so maybe more than a bit) but I always enjoy them. Again, it's the vintage lover in me. Probably for me one of the most fun shaves recently was the 1912 Gem SE with a Carbon blade. Now THAT'S old school. I'm thinking that while the blade got me to DFS with this shave it can do better at higher gaps and aggression. We'll find out, one way or the other.

Since Treet blades hail from Pakistan I thought an idea for a traditional Pakistani look might work for Halloween. Complete with Huqqa. Classy!

    Jaguar Prestige A/S Lotion

After the poor Shave with a Fat Boy [ my fault, settings wrong ], I used a Slim. Ensured that I opened up the settings, and got a quite smooth shave with a much better overall finish. However, I felt that the FatBoy was easier to handle than the Slim, due to imbalance of head weight and diameter of Handle on the Slim.

Have actually had much quicker and better Shaves with both the Progress & Futur than with the Gillette icons, perhaps being more familiar with the former.

    Beaudelaire Friday
Optimal shave today. The lather was thick and slick and the Futur did its job without drama of any kind. A little splash of Reserve Cool and then the Beaudelaire aftershave splash and I'm ready to go.

Magnificent shave with the PAL Injecto-Matic this morning. Wonderful lather from the Palmolive Cool Menthol shave cream. Three easy, refreshing passes for a dolphin smooth finish. Have a great day friends.

This Agressia Fresh cream is excellent - a very nice scent, great lather, and it feels slightly-cooling with very good skincare. The Nord-ost balm was a real soother and the Floid Classic aftershave completed the job the right way with a strong menthol punch. The Junjie/Astra combination worked its magic and left me with a BBS face! :happy088: :happy088:

Fat Friday! Nice shave with Mitchell's Wool Fat. Today's lather was really nice and easily face lathered with the Omega boar. One pass with touch-ups around the neck and jaw and I'm ready for the day. Fine American Blend is a terrific scent and is a Friday staple. All in all a nice shave.

    Have a great day!

    Surrey handle/ Vietnamese silvertip
    Bombed Arko
C-MON Cadillac 5/8 full hollow square end
    Pinaud Lime sec
Today's shave was nice. Funny, I had a hankering for the scent of Arko. The 63 caddy drove very smoothly. Three times round the block and I'm slick as a whistle. Finished with lime sec, sort of a 7/up thing going on.
Hope y'all did as well, or better. 20161014_074325_resized.jpg 20161014_073117_resized.jpg

    Have a great day!
So I am thinking to myself, this razor blade is really aggressive. I muddle through the shave, with no nicks or cuts, And when I'm finished shaving and cleaning up my razor I discover, much to my chagrin, there were two razor blades stuck to each other with which I had shaved! I guess I'm really lucky I didn't cut the heck out of my face.

I'll need a commentary from you on the Clubman shave soap-I'm interested in giving it a try. Reviewers have said the fragrance is more Clubman Vanilla than the regular one.
