Auto-Strops are great razors. They're smooth nimble shavers, they look cool and they can easily be had for dirt cheap prices. The VC1 can also be loaded with a modified Gem blade - a good think, since I get 2 good shaves out of these Feathers.

Todays shave was just nice - reasonably close and free from irritation and weepers.

Tomorrow: The Asylum Rx.

Really nice shave with the PAL tonight. The Ghost Town Barber is definitely a favorite scent, and the maiden voyage with my Tuxedo brush really impressed me. It is one heck of a knot. Probably the best and most natural splaying synthetic I have ever tried. I definitely recommend it to anyone considering buying one.

Found that the PAL Injecto Matic works better with Soap than with a Cream.

Exquisite shave with the PAL Adjustable injector razor this morning. Sublime lather from La Toja shave stick. Three passes for an easy refreshing dolphin smooth finish. Have a great day guys.

Good shave this morning. First pass reduction wasn't on par with some other shaves. It may be time for a new blade even though this was only shave number four on this blade. I've gotten six or seven comfortable shaves with a Chick blade in the past. I needed more touch-up than usual to get to my normal smoothness for a weekday.

As planned I swapped the AC blades on these two black beauties, Super to the Hawk, Pro to the General. I didn't care for the results on either razor, the Super being rather harsh, the Pro not as effective thus matched. For me, and judging primarily by the more demanding head shave, the Hawk and General are best matched to the Pro and Super respectively. I've never tried a Kai.

There seems to be a conspiracy to derail me from my OCtober focus on open comb razors. The Asylum Rx arrived yesterday and there is simply no way I'm putting this incredible razor on a shelf for two weeks.

The Asylum Rx from Bullgoose Shaving Supplies is the latest entry into the rapidly growing field of single edge razors using the Feather Artist Club blades. It is entirely machined from stainless steel in the USA, and has a great feel in the hand, practically radiating quality. Fit and finish are outstanding, with the knurling clean and sharp and the matte finish a soft glow.





It is a 3 piece razor, but unlike any other. The cap wraps around the back of the razor, with a vertical channel that slides into the base plate. Tolerances are incredibly close with the pieces mating perfectly.

I loaded it with a Feather Pro blade and enjoyed a really close shave. Well, mostly enjoyed - I got careless and managed to nick myself - first time in a really long while. A really tiny nick, but enough to draw blood and have me trying to remember where I put the styptic pencil.

In hindsight I probably should have started with a Pro Guard or even a Kai Titan Mild blade until I get more familiar with the razor. It is smooth - deceptively so, as I did not immediately realize that it is on the aggressive side, considerably more so than a Mongoose or the ATT SE1.

Actually, it reminds me of another razor in my collection.



The Rx reminds me a lot of a refined, modern version of the Cobra Classic, one of my favorite razors.

These are my initial impressions after one shave with one blade, and will surely evolve with more shaves.

Interesting..That Looks Like a Refined Version of the Classic Cobra & the Classic Cobra is a Lovely Shaver..I Liked the Shot I had with A Pass Around Classic Cobra..I Liked it a lot..

I used the Personna injector for the first time, and honestly, as much as I really want to like this razor, it is definitely the lowest performer of all my injectors. I got a pretty okay DFS-ish shave, but I worked at it pretty hard to get it. I am not giving up on it after one shave (it's too cool looking ), but it is the first razor I have tried since I started my injector focus that didn't wow me just a little. The cool part is that I got to lather an extra pass with the totally kick ass Stirling Almond. it's an awesome soap that gets neglected in my den.

Never met a Schick Injector I didn't Dig....

 

Anyone heard of any current or future injector razors besides the Single Edge and Bunny?

 

Asylum is the only other one I know of.

I just got the Personna injector as well and had an excellent first shave with it. Have you had any experience with the Pal adjustable? I find it has a similar angle to the Pal.

 

That uses Feather Pro and Kai Titan though right? It sure is a beauty but I really want to use my injector razor blades because they're AWESOME

 

They do have a similar feel. The PAL when it's cranked up, just has more "oomph" to it.
