Today's Shave: Wednesday October 19, 2016 Asylum Rx Kai Titan Mild blade (1) The Grooming Co. synthetic brush Stirling Glacial Eskimo Tuxedo soap Stirling Sharp Dressed Man aftershave For my second shave ever with the Asylum Rx I loaded a Kai Captain Titan Mild blade. This worked better for me than the Feather Professional, delivering a near-perfect BBS shave without the irritation and weepers (and a nick!) that I experienced yesterday with the Feather Pro. I think I'll stick with this blade for a few shaves until I get more familiar with this magnificent razor. --Bob
Thu. 10/20/16 Excellent shave with the PAL Adjustable this morning. Wonderful lather from this beautifully scented PAA CiderHouse 5 shave soap. Three refreshing passes for an easy dolphin smooth finish. Have a great day guys.
I really like the smooth comfortable shaves I get with the L. No muss no fuss Also, how is the barbershop scent from Stirling? I just bought my first soap from them and have been impressed with the lather quality. Now I need more scents, but there are so many to choose from
That razor is beautiful Bob! When I was shaving with a Feather Artist Club RG, I felt the same way about the Feather Pros. One false move and you were nicked or worse. The Kai seemed much more smooth and forgiving.
I have a puck of the Stirling barbershop soap and the scent is fantastic! It smells like an old time barbershop. I'm bad at describing scents, but it's a pleasant powdery old time barbershop scent. I like it!
That would be some injector razor! I hope they make it some day! Thanks for digging that up and causing me to dream
SOTD October 20, 2016 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick L1 injector Brush: Omega 10049 boar Lather: Stirling Barbershop Post: Witch hazel splash, Stirling Barbershop aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up Nice shave again with this combination. I'll switch away from this tomorrow so I can use Mitchell's Wool Fat! The Schick L works great and the Barbershop soap and aftershave also continue to impress. Have a great day!
I agree with @Jim99 that the Stirling Barbershop is more toward the powdery side. I'm also really terrible at describing scents but I can agree with that assessment. The aftershave is a little different than the soap and has a vanilla element to it. A little of the aftershave goes a long way.
I'm with you Roby! Injector and specifically the PALs are great razors! You could spend 10x the price and not get a better shave!
SOTN OCtober 19th Henckels Rapide | Le Coq blade Crown King Scuttle Satin Tip The Purest RazoRock XXX Homemade Tangerine AS & Nivea Sensitive ASB Good Morning everyone! Last time I shaved with this blade I decided that I wanted to get it a little sharper. Following Billy's advice I gave it 60 laps on the 1-micron film and then gave it 20 laps on the CrOx and IrOx and then 60 laps on the leather. It was definitely sharper than last time but still not quite as sharp as I want it. I completed 3 passes and ended with a DFS. I finished off with some of my homemade tangerine AS and Nivea Sensitive ASB. Have a great day my friends!
Today's Shave: Thursday October 20, 2016 Asylum Rx Kai Titan Mild (2) The Grooming Co. synthetic brush Stirling Bay Rum soap Cat O' Nine Tails aftershave My introduction continues with the Asylum Rx. This is my 3rd shave with this razor and it continues to impress - each shave has been better than the previous one. The angle on the Rx is not completely intuitive to me - I tend to go too shallow, but I'm getting it down. Today's shave was, well, pretty awesome, with zero irritation. --Bob
