Finally got my hands on another one of those super-rare asian straight razors all the experts rave about I consider myself extremely lucky since this is already the second GD I can add to my collection. It even came with this precious imitation leather sheath The seller claims this razor is shave-ready (supposedly honed by some 100-something year old sifu at new moon on his Ming period waterstones). Well, I guess I'll put that to the test soon.
Step one; Acquire a shave ready straight from a reputable person. Step two; Purchase a Practice strop. An inexpensive one - you might damage it learning. Step three; One hundred shaves ought to learn you to basic skill level. After that it's buy more razors. And start looking at stones, hones, DMT's, and a nice strop. Easy, huh?
thank you for saying skill "level"....I'm tired of this sill "set" thing. Anyway, looks like it'll be baby steps for me on this one.
I know I did. Too many straights, not enough learning to use a well honed blade. I've still got a 1/16" brass rod & washers that I haven't put to use. Should have purchased a Norton 4k/8k...
Latest arrival and it's better than I expected. The box is in fantastic condition. I'm going to polish and hone this one this weekend.
Ridiculously excited to receive these seven Personna injector razors in the mail. Colors I never knew they came in. First thing I did was to check if they had maybe been painted but nope, that't the color of the plastic used. For about $2.50/razor I think this was a great score even though, as the seller mentioned, two of them are missing components. Hmm..maybe I can have them fixed... Left to right: Gold, Yellow, Red, Pink, Blue, Grey and White
That's what I'm thinking as well but these plastic Personnas are already hard to find regardless what color they are in. Gotta see if there's a common Personna injector that have parts that could fit.
