Do you have any unusual wet shaving habits?

I'm sure I will before long. I have nothing against brushes-it's just a completely new concept for me.

I have several shaving habits that may be a bit weird.

    1. I use the soap "brine" or soapy water to do my rinse between passes and clean up. This makes it easy to check slickness and give any moisturizers some time to work.

    2. Soap sniffing has almost become an addiction. The wife thinks I'm crazy, which I may be, but some scents out there are works of art. Since only 1 soap a day is being used, it's a way to enjoy and get to know each scent.

    3. Spending a lot of time on forums and searching for new soaps and aftershaves. Have been working on cutting down the obsession a little bit.

about that #3-a forum is a great place to accomplish your searches, I'd think.

I check to forums almost daily, along with some of the vendors. It has slowed down the past few weeks, but it took some self discipline.

That's what I need to do, a little more self-discipline.

A few more confessions that fall into the quirk category:

I save the boxes from all the shaving products I purchase. Why, I don't know.
I don't like to see a man who is unshaven.
When I see an older man during the day I wonder if he has any vintage razors.
I have to dry my brushes upside down for 24 hours. Then I return it to the lineup. Label facing forward of course.

More to follow...I am not done yet...not by a long shot.

Rub my face most of the day, snif my aftershaves/colognes/soaps... Look at myself a lot in the mirror. Those are bad enough as it is! Hehehe

I'm a woman who gives men advice on how to get a good shave. I guess that's sort of unusual.

I'm a man who goes to a barbershop run by barberettes who not only give me advice about my hair-they slice it up(and do it well).

I also find myself constantly evaluating things in the store to see if they would serve any purpose in my shaving ritual.

A year ago I'd never even looked twice at an old stick of shave soap. I was thrilled to spot 3/4 of someone else's vintage soap stick. Scraped the dusty end clean, and I've enjoyed several shaves, and shared a chunk with another member. They don't make this stuff any more!

That stinks....it'd be nice if they did. I got the idea that using shaving sticks would be similar to insect repellant "sticks". Presuming I'm right, that makes it easy.

I'd keep the Arko away from the brass seat hinge. The porcelain seems to be holding up well. :)

Charlie @wristwatchb Thank you for reviving this thread. Many good self deprecating laughs ensued.

Paul @Paul Turner PM me your address and I'll send you a sample of Vintage Williams Stick. A slice off the stick from the unused end will be sized like a plastic checker; 1/4" thick X about 1-1/4" diameter. You should get a dozen shaves or more.
Are you using a brush yet?

And since I was the recipient of said genorosity, I will concur with you and @PLANofMAN that it is, indeed, really good soap. :) Thanks for letting me try!

I am a day shaver so after I finish I organize and lay out the next days shave (Razor, blade, soap, brush). That way every time I use the bathroom I can see what's coming (once and awhile I also smell the soap).
