OCtober-een! October 22 Grand Blade Trials Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (6) Blade - (2) Soap - Arko Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip Post - Alum Opening up the gap for the Gillette Platinum-Plus blade with the Slim. I'm now three months in on this Arko stick and still have several weeks probably before it gets too small to use easily. I'm amazed at how well it holds up. And the lather is just incredibly consistent shave after shave. Thinking I'll be adding another Silvertip in the not too distant future as I do love the days I use it. Back to the blade. Three passes on 6 today and it was as smooth as I expected. Interesting moment just now...I had just typed that last sentence (....as I expected) and reached up to double check the result. Feeling BBS until I found a small bump under the right jaw near my ear. What the......blood clot on the surface. I appear to have nicked myself there and had no clue. Didn't feel it happen, and the alum either didn't burn it or else I just missed it with the alum. It was back just a bit under the jawline. So, while I was feeling a barely BBS I'll back down to DFS because of the blood. That was not a technique error. It may have been something else but I have to assume the blade was in on it. I'm not knocking the blade down much even for that. Obviously it's smooth since I had no clue about the nick. Now, though, it will be interesting to take it to 9 on the Slim tomorrow and see what happens. I'm still giving this grade a high grade so far. Really has been a nice find. We're seeing the temperature drop more than it has so things are cooling off. With Samhain/Halloween just over a week away things could get chilled. Gotta make sure your car is ready this time of year.
22 October 2016 No shave for me today...too many chores and not enough energy left. Tomorrow! Something special is cooking. I will have a detour week inspired @Herm2502 @Rufus T. and @twhite . It probably involves injectors! Hope all are well! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a great Sunday!
Ride the cap on nine! In January (NB16), I'll pick up a pack of those at the pharmacy and try them. Seems pretty like a good blade, albeit quite pricey.
Saved by the Sch..., ah - bell! I have a nickle Fatip waiting in a shopping cart. Another week of seeing it might have push me over the edge.
Worth every penny. FatBoy at nine and Fatip are the only DE razors that I see myself using in the future.
Gotta pay a couple bills first. My shaving budget is any money left after everything else is paid. I've been reading up and will be choosing nickel finish. I found a less than perfect one owner unit for a nearly half off retail. Handles are an easy option so the question of Piccolo or Grande is moot. There is a list posted here.
Understand the budget. Nickel was my choice as well. I like the vintage look to it. When I had my '47 Super Speed replated I had it done in nickel as well. Looks magnificent.
Hello TSD Shave # 13 of my October Focus: - Phoenix & Beau "Star Noir" - The Tuxedo - Feather Artist Club SS - Feather Professional Super (#3) - Tüff sensitiv Rasierwasser First shave with this new seasonal soap from P&B - fantastic stuff. Flawless performance als usual, the scent is wonderful. A little floral, but at the same time masculine, I detect some cologne-ish notes as well, the base is somehow woody/musky ... love it. The Feather professional blade I used for my last shave with the Artist Club shavette went into my new RazoRock Black Hawk, so I re-activated the almost unused Pro Super. No problems at all, pretty uneventful shave actually. Two passes, ATG and ATG, face is BBS and smells great No nicks, no cuts, no Aftershave burn. I really like the way this particular Feather AC shaves and I'm getting quite comfortable using it - guess I should try a Kamisori someday. Off to work now - have a great sunday
October 23, 2016 Wolfman WR-01 OC with Triad SS Feather (3) Doug Korn DK7 with Druida Manchurian Fine Platinum Shave Stick Witch Hazel Fine Platinum Aftershave The Fine Platinum soap scent is a perfect match to the aftershave but not quite as strong or long lasting. The scent of the soap smells great of the puck and lasts through the shave but dissipates quickly afterwards. I find the Fine soap to be easy to lather and pretty slick. A three pass shave with minimal clean ups ended in a near BBS. I ended the shave with a splash of Fine Platinum aftershave. I am off this morning to visit my mom. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

I decided to change things up a bit today by using my new Merkur 34C. Such a tiny handle, with some unknown soap I had left over that's about 15+ years old, but has worked great for straight razoring for years. Feather Stainless Platinum coated razor Pinaud Clubman AS. I had a nice 2 pass DFS with just 2 minor weepers that Alum sealed up, where I got a bit too aggressive with, after I wasn't satisfied and hadn't relathered. Lesson learned,... lather has a purpose. A cold water rinse followed by the Pinaud AS, made me smell as if I just had a haircut and didn't sting like I had anticipated. Overall a good experience. Learned that stubby handle needs to be held up a bit higher to get that perfect ride the cap angle. Now my face feels quite fresh. Enjoy your Sunday everybody. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
