Just saw the projected delivery date for my Clubman stuff(the new shave soap and the Kent Comb)...Oct. 28. Nice way to end the month.
Nothing wrong with buying 400 at a time. I look on every purchase of blades I make as extending me closer to having enough to go the distance until the day I fall over with a razor in my hand. So, if I figure 100 last 300 days, and I plan on living 20 more years, that's 365 x 20 + 5 leap days = 7305 days divided by 300 = 2435 blades. My current 1100 or whatever it is clearly isn't NEARLY enough given that blade algebra.
Shave 15 AJ Jordan Tonight I had a nice 3 pass shave. I decided I will not attempt EW passes for a while, on my neck. I really need to get my right hand used to using these contraptions. My face and jaw shaving is coming around nicely. Slow and steady with this thing way more than my other razors. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You're doing well so far. I gained familiarity after 30 shaves or so, complete competence after 60, was pretty darn good after 90. You're probably right on schedule. Have you noticed that straights punish tentative moves? Slow and deliberate is definitely the smarter way.
Final test for the Cade cream, the hot scuttle. I like to use my Kent BK8 with a hot scuttle, I love the way it retains the heat. Today I decided to go with the 'Holly Hand Grenade', 2011 R41. I should use it more, it is the standard I judge all my shaves against. The Cade held up nicely in the heat, still allot of cushion but just OK slickness. If it was not for one little nick it would have been an epic shave. No irritation and long lasting BBS.
OCtober-een! October 25 Grand Blade Trials - Day Off for OCtober Razor - Fatip Piccolo Blade - (1) Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip Post - Alum Another OCtober shave and back to the Fatip. And, for a totally different experience, I chose the Astra SP blade in honor of @wristwatchb . I use this blade for my head shave every week but haven't used it on my face in a very long time. It's a great blade so this should be a great shave. The Wolf and the Fat are best friends in my den and make a fantastic lather. Three passes with the Fatip and Astra SP and wow. Just wow. Smooth shave, the Fatip is hyper-aggressive but with this blade it's just a fine experience. No blood, and the alum is basically quiet other than a spot or two on my neck where I did a bit of touch up. Captured the baby and my face feels great. This is a fantastic combination and if you have the Fatip I'd recommend trying this blade in it. Time to hop the train and head to India for the resumption of the Grand Blade Trial tomorrow evening. The Wilkinson Sword (India) is up for its turn. Hope you all had a great day!
