I'm still laughing over the fact that Brian has like 200 razors, including a bunch of new to him un-obtainium. Rather than rotating through all his goodies like a normal wet shaving savant, he sees pink plastic disposable kamisoris and has to do it. "Hmm, Toggle, Otto, Barbasol floating head, or a cheap piece of plastic not planned for the US market."
OCtober Focus Renewed! B&M Ferox and B-400 Tuxedo Fatip Piccolo & Astra SP (2nd) Alum/ AV Ice Blue/ Cremo FM USPS didn't catch the tracking number until my new-to-me Fatip was out for delivery. I wasted no time, but went thru standard decontamination procedures (Grrr Laptop or internet locked up. I had typed out a whole long evaluation. Thanks @sparky5693 for having the "draft saved" feature in place.) Anyways, Fatip works. Ride the cap. Mind the Gap. No alignment issues although for being a one owner slightly used razor the nickle finish is thin. Piccolo handle is smaller that I hoped and none of my current 3pc razors fit. Three passes + clean up left me smooth except for under my jaw line and a bit of irritation on my neck. That's operator error finding the angle of attack. Good Day Y'all!
October 27 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush Chiseled Face Sherlock Gillette Old Type Stirling Unscented PSB Old Spice Fresh In yet another sign I have too many razors, I found this one buried in a drawer. I think it was a thow in with another razor I had purchased. I decided it was time to clean it up and use it. I went with the Gillette Platinum Plus blade for shave number 5, and the combo was great. Nice and smooth. I was a bit rushed, so I missed a spot on my neck, otherwise this would be an easy DFS, maybe BBS. I'll call it a CCS, though. I am now waiting at my doctor's to get my staples removed. This is always a fun event. I hope everyone has a great day.
Something tells me that was a bit rigged. However, when encountering a multitude of beautiful Russian women in pictures, remember that at least 60% of those are probably Russian "mail order brides" so I wouldn't trust them to be, um, totally honest. Hey, for only $1000 you can meet the Russian girl of your dreams....after sending an additional $500 for insurance and, oh yeah, we forgot, $750 for extra baggage transit and did we mention the additional $350 for required visa attachments? We didn't? Oops. Sorry about that. Well, hey, don't worry....just Western Union that right over and we'll send her arrival gate and time at the airport. Please be an hour early to insure you don't miss her and, yeah, we have your address on file? Great! The boys will need to know that to make sure you come home to a clean house. As in, empty.....and, sorry to say, she missed her flight too. Thank you for doing business with Russian Brides 'r' Us!
I didn't realize until I did some Googling later but, apparently, Japanese women are quite the shavers. It's apparently common for them to shave their arms and their faces.
This is my setup for the next 26 days. 4 down and loving it. Technique coming along nicely. I've since grated the soap stick into a nice sized bowl for easier lathering and it worked like a charm. Constants - Razor: EJ 89 Blades: Wilkinson Sword Classic Pre Shave: Prorasso Cream and KOS Shave Oil Soap: La Toja Jabon de AFEITAR Brush: Omega Boar ????? Variables - Aftershave lotion and Balm
Nice setup! La Toja is such a great soap. Looking forward to following your progress with this combination.
Razor: Timeless Stainless Steel Open Comb w/Timeless Barber Pole Handle Blade: Gillette Platinum (7) Brush: El Druida Cocobolo w/ Druida Manchurian Soap: Route 66 Perfect Storm Aftershave: Floid Blue Excellent 3 pass with a minor touch up today. The Gillette Platinum has stood the test of time giving me 7 excellent close comfortable. As is my rule I'll change to a Feather Platinum blade tomorrow. The Barber Pole handle is of outstanding weight and balance for me. I can truly say that there isn't a Timeless handle I don't like. Each brings their own personality to the party. YMMV. Snow started today for the first time this year. There you go. Start. Later.
Pretty shot, Doug! Meanwhile we're in the mid 80s with bright sun down South. Drought and record heat here.....
Now that you put it that way, it explains my wife telling me I'm nuts. I think the words were, "you're crazy, no sympathy from me when you end up bleeding again". Of course this was all said while laughing . I'll find something pretty for tomorrow's shave just for you Adam.
My wife asked how they did it, and I told her it was similar to a staple puller. Maybe I should have taken you up on the offer!
October 27 Gillette New LC Feather blade (1) Kent BK8 brush Tabac shave stick Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and CC Bay Rum aftershave I'm still hangin' in there with the New LC. I completed my usual two-pass routine with some touch-ups around the mouth and chin. The result was a near BBS shave with no nicks or irritation. I've been rotating my aftershaves for some variety over the last couple of weeks, and today was the CC Bay Rum. I really enjoy this aftershave on a cool fall morning. For November, I plan to stick with the same basic set up using Astra SP instead of Feather blades. A month of shaves with Astra SP's will allow me to fairly compare them to Feathers (Murica's best). I plan to include a few shaves with the Pain Stick for variety. Photo taken earlier this month with the Kent BK4. I hope you all have had a great week.
Day 2 with Castle Forbes and today is the hot scuttle test combined with the DE test. The brush is my 'coolest', an elk antler brush from our own @gssixgun. Not sure what knot is in it but it has all the qualities I like, very soft and not too much backbone. The razor is an ATT H2 loaded with an Iridium Super(my favorite DE blade). CF is a top tier cream and will performance was very good today under the heat it is better warm. Four passes and an epic shave, no irritation and long lasting BBS. Great way to start TGIF.
Shave 16 Boker Pearl Tonights shave went very smooth. I tried something new today. While sitting at work feeling my face and neck. I decided my first pass would be NS on the face. SN on my neck up to the top of my jaw line. Second pass ear to nose on face and a diagonal chin to ear direction on neck and jaw. Pass 3 would be face same as pass 2. Neck and jaw would be ear to adams apple on a diagonal. This proved to be a very effortless path. I will stick with this for a while. Tom
