I have too many. They tend to get rotated through or go in spurts. Hunting - This one has really tapered off. For the last five years or so work just doesn't seem to cooperate. Fishing - Time in the boat is one of my most favorite all time things. Kayaking - Mostly like to do rivers, but fishing from them is a blast. Firearms Wet Shaving Cooking Reading Gardening - Vegetable Canning, Making Sausages, Jerky and generally just filling the pantry/freezer. Snowshoing Living vicariously through my children. Firearms Reloading Competitive pistol shooting Ummm... I shave occasionally as well. I also like firearms and reloading
Great to read everyone's hobbies. I seem to add at least one new hobby a year, but unfortunately the number of hours in a day doesn't seem to change along with it. A few of my hobbies: Ukulele - been playing for about 4 years Sea Kayaking - we live in a little beach town & get out about once a month or so Hiking - There are a lot of trails here in SoCal and we try to get out at least once a week on a hike Travel - My wife is from Malaysia so we get back there once a year or so, and like to travel to other countries, most recently Japan & Korea back in April Reading - before I got married I had an annual goal of 50 books per year. I don't read that much nowadays but still read probably 25/year, along with 2 newspapers every day (NYT & WSJ), and a bunch of magazines Working out - I do resistance training 4x/week Podcasts - perfect thing to mix with working out, I listen to a bunch of podcasts, like Bill Simmons, Freakonomics, Tim Ferris & Stuff you Should Know Cooking - my wife is the 'real' cook but we like to cook together, especially on weekends Hot Sauce - we have a garden and I grow various chilis (habaneros, cayennes, thai, jalapeno, serrano), and I make home-made hot sauce and also salsa (we also grow 5 kinds of tomatoes). Last year we bottled a bunch of hot sauce and gave it out as Christmas presents. Poker - I don't play as much as I used to, but for about 10 years I've been a competitive poker player and play at a couple of the local casinos (Commerce in LA and Ocean's 11 in Oceanside) Tennis - I recently re-started playing tennis after having played in high school & when I was growing up. I'm in a tennis league and play a couple of times per week.
Sport Watching (Soccer, Gaelic Games, Rugby) "Sport" Participating (8 Ball Pool and Snooker) Exercise (3x circuit classes per week atm) DE Shaving Don't tend to watch TV much these days, which frees up a lot of time for my hobbies.
My hobby of collecting and rebuilding Abu Garcia Ambassadeur fishing reels has turned into a small business after a local fishing store contracted me to be their reel repair guy. After repairing nearly 100 reels this year, im not sure its actually a hobby any longer
Appears many of us are into the shooting sports. I compete regularly in National Match High Powered Rifle and steel action pistol. I reload my own ammunition (alot of it). Now that I'm retired I can practice more and I live less than 10 minutes from the range. I go through upwards of 800 rounds a month, sometimes more. Just bought a progressive press for pistol, to keep up with the demand - but load the match rifle one at a time to control the exacting needs of that sport. I also do wood working (mostly lathe work), and smoking meats, cheese, salmon et cetera. Now I have DE shaving to add to the list.
Sounds like fun. I like taking weekend hikes in the local parks looking at nature and seeking photo ops for things that look unique right under your nose that most just walk past. Also like to play racquet ball with the boys. Love music, but can only play the radio! Biking is also fun and there is a great trail just 2 miles from me. I also enjoy woodworking and painting but it is hard to find time anymore.
For me it's lifting ( regularly compete in a sport called powerlifting.) I also enjoy reading, hunting and have been playing the bagpipes for a little over 6 years now. Would love to try out golf but from what I've heard it's fairly expensive. Oh and shaving now too lol.
My newest is machine sewing. My favorite aspect is machine embroidery. Just to clarify, there are computerized machines that do the stitching and moving the fabric automatically. That is not what I am learning, but instead, a method where you move the fabric around with your hands.
Mine include Fishing Scuba diving Freediving Aquarium s (fresh or saltwater) Whittling Boats My profession is capturing fish for aquariums. Most of my hobbies have turned to jobs but I find that better than a 9 to 5.
