I'd love to find a few of these razors! Japanese cutlery is usually top notch. Sent from my SM-N930T using Tapatalk
EBay is your best friend, for finding these Japanese razors. Welcome to The Shave Den. Go to the Newbies section and introduce yourself. http://theshaveden.com/forums/forums/newbies.28/
Here's my first submission to this thread -- Diamond Hayashi 8000 (in the uncommon clear / silver tinsel scales with purple tang and cherry red spacer). Regards, Chris
Thanks, DaltonGang. When I saw the #8000 in something other than the usual purple scales (which are quite lovely, don't get me wrong), I had to jump on it. Now, if only I could find that elusive #1072. Regards, Chris
The #1072 is the razor I've been after for a long time. Not only is it very attractive (cherry red scales with cream tang), but it's a heavier, quarter-hollow grind, and I've always loved those the most. (I had a chance to buy a near NOS several months ago, but I didn't have the funds at the time.) Someday... Regards, Chris
Google Fu. LOL =) Yes, the #8000 (both the common purple and my uncommon clear / silver) is a very attractive razor. However, the #1072 is the grind that I favor, so ultimately, the #1072 wins. (But I'll be happy to add each to my rotation.) By the way, here are a few previously-NOS Japanese razors that I sold on eBay a few months ago -- Manaslu M500 (Yasuki Steel, White #2) and Nile #65. Superb shavers that I regret selling. Regards, Chris
I did! And I got it for a steal, if you ask me. =) (Wonderfully sharp edge too. The man can hone.) Regards, Chris
I just happened to buy two from him. Definitely nice, unique razors. I had my eye on the one you have. I'm happy that you got it
