I am going to give a go at making a straight razor. I am using O-1. It will be a 11/16 near wedge. Here is the blank all. Ut out. Next will be grinding the blade to make ready for heat treat.

Sounds like fun @twhite . Where did you get the razor blank? I like the style of blade. Nice choice.

I made it myself. I designed the shape myself also.

Do I detect the makings of another pass-around? :bounce017: OK, a little premature but I have confidence. :happy088:

What can I say... I'm impressed and amazed at the same time. Somehow you will need to temper the steel but for some reason I'm pretty sure you're going to figure that part out. This is going to be good!

Yes. I have not decided if I will make my own little furnace or have it done. There are several heat treating companies by me. I would prefer to make one.

I love that show. I have never done blacksmithing before. This is all saws, grinders and file work. For now.

Brother, you amaze me! I can't wait to see how this process emerges. Pretty soon we'll see "Twhite Razors" shop on etsy

Nice new project, Tom! Looks great already!

Do you use some special kind of steel or is it 'just' a 'regular' piece of metal you found lying around in a corner?
