    Today's Shave: Wednesday November 2, 2016

    Razorock Hawk w/Rapier handle
    Feather AC Professional blade (4)
    The Grooming Co. synthetic brush
    Stirling Bay Rum soap
    Ogallala Reserve Bay Rum aftershave/cologne

I fitted the Hawk with a Rapier handle from Techichi Shave. This is a hollow chrome plated brass handle that adds some heft without totally overpowering the head like the solid stainless handles. It seems to make the razor feel slightly more aggressive. Still on the mild side, an extremely smooth shave, pretty close (just short of BBS all over).

I put a modern Personna in a Hussy this morning. I didn't think it did as good job as the Plus Platinums I usually use.

Plus Plats for as long as I can remember has been the blade I measure all others from...
Yesterday I shaved with a Day3 modern Personna, in my H type...The shave was fantastic!

I can dig what your saying...I love those Plus Plats....But in the interest of all things being relative and the YMMV rule being liberally applied in the razor/blade combo discussion....I'll attempt to ponder yesterday's shave...

While I still think the Plus Plats are number one for me, the EMS/Personna blades consistantly deliver a closer, sharper (if you will) performance than any DE blade I know of with the possible exception of my all time fave, the Perma-Sharp Supers. And I think they match or exceed the performance of even those, depending on the razor used...

So even if these generic Personnas don't eclipse the performance of the Plus Plats, The 74s, or Dutch Dog Danglees; in the right razor; they do give me more "bang for the buck" and a thoroughly enjoyable shaving experience. And in some razors; I would go so far as to consider the possibility that they even beat out one of my other faves, the Chinese Schicks....and I'll repeat..."this is dependant on the razor used of course..."

Ohhh, and to be thorough and fair....with the Plus Plats I always get 7 great shaves, and with the EMS/Personnas I often notice the efficientcy starting to fade after 5 great shaves...

Yesterday's Shave....everything came together...and the Hussy/Ems combo acquitted themselves most admirably.

Magnificent shave this morning with the Schick N1 fitted with a twin blade. How wonderful to be back on a razor that delivers above and beyond the call of duty unlike yesterday's shave with the less than deserving Alumigoose. Wonderful lather from the beautifully scented KMF Pomegranate and Grapefruit shave cream. Three blissful refreshing passes for a dolphin smooth finish. Have a great day friends. :)

    Tonight's Shave:
    image.jpeg
Hot Water Whisker Rinse....maybe 2 mins.
Arko Shave Stick/Stag Vintage Badger (Carrington refurb)
    1955 Eversharp-Schick Hydro-magic (my Highlander razor)
    EMS/Personna d1
    Thayers Witch Hazel-Rose Petal/Aloe Vera
    Clubman Classic Vanilla

The very mild nature of this razor is what allows me to use a more aggressive blade and demeaner....I always do a clean-up pass with just Witch Hazel. And with this razor I can buff atg on this pass, where some of my more aggressive razors I would need to take it a little more subtle with just witch hazel and no lather. So with the mild nature of this razor, I end up getting these irritation free, incredibly close BBS shaves...Even closer than I get with some of my more aggressive shavers!

The Schick Hydro-magic has always been my Highlander razor...for many reasons on many levels...One, it was the razor choice of my Pop since it first made the scene in 1955...Now lets not forget, my Pop took his shaving very seriously and was a great judge of razors...So while it wins out for sentimental reasons it also is unsurpassed in delivering close, smooth, irritation free shaves....I'm lucky my Pop had such good taste in razors....

Have a Great rest of your week Everybody....:happy108:

I really like the Personna brand. They were the first DE blades I bought and gave me great shaves. I really enjoy the Pal Adjustable, Personna Super Stainless, Floating Head, and I'm sure I would like the Injectomatic as well. Modern Personna injector blades, though, have always been a mixed bag for me. I can get a good shave with them, but I have always felt that they were not as comfortable as Chicks. I agree with Bird that they seem to last longer than most DE blades though. I have one loaded in my new Pal Adjustable now. YMMV and all that.
