OK. Here it is. 1.) cut the bristles down 2.) drill out old bristles 3.) light grit fingernail file (I use my wife's from Creative Nail Design) .....(more to follow).
if you wont to do it easier put the brush in boiling water for one minute wrap the handel in a towel and pull the hair out with pliers it works for me.
Oh, you just make this look so easy you smug little so-and-so! Seriously, I gotta buy a crap brush and try this! How do you glue the new hair in, and what kind of glue do you use? And where are you buying your knots?
I get my knots from www.thegoldennib.com, they are also available at www.blankity-blanks.com. This one will take a 20mm silvertip badger. When it arrives, it's really just a matter of mixing up a little marine epoxy and gluing it in.
The hot water and torque works with solid handles, but with non-solid handles I have experienced disfiguring of the handle. Waves form and the handle gets thrashed.
The Ever-ready brushes are actually hollow, and the black part can be destroyed with high temperatures. Heres a picture of what I mean by solid:
Sorry. The Ever-Ready brushes being hollow, I categorized as non-solid. Maybe I should have just called it hollow. :ashamed001
Okay, I need to badger you with a few more questions (Get it? Badger? Ha, Ha, Ha!). Seriously, what brand of marine epoxy are you using? At the risk of sounding totally clueless, I have never heard of "marine epoxy". Got a brand name, so I know what to look for?
Any Tru-Value / Arrow Hardware Store has it. It's epoxy for boats and it is like 2 colors of play-dough that activate when you mix the 2 together.
The knot arrived and all I need to do now is mix up some epoxy (I've learned to use black epoxy rather than white (see the Fuller Brush posted earlier in this thread.))and glue it in!!
I'm all over this one! I gotta search out some cool looking handles so I can get busy! Thanks for posting these instructions, Larry! :signs097
