I am looking forward to it. No rush though as I am enjoying this new journey. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's the spirit. It may seem silly, but for me the shavette/SR experience is a zone activity. Kind of a daily gut check to see where I am at mentally and physically.
NOVember Shiny Variation Stirling Mountain Man & B-400 Tuxedo Stahly Live Blade w/ Rapira SS blade Alum block and New Old Spice AS I gave in to the Call of the Chrome. Used my current favorite Rubberset 400 tribute brush (Thank you Tom!) to lather up in the suribachi bowl. Fresh Russian steel in my distracting buzzing Stroke Saver for three passes and a little clean up. Considering the engineering they put into this machine, the buzzing 3000 vibrations per minute give a fun face massage. Heeding the advice of those that shave before me I went with slow strokes to allow the handle to do it's job. Quite audible with that Velcro ripping sound, the head is easy to arrange Angle of Attack. I wound, rewound, and tried it without the motor humming. Not wanting to push my 1st use to error I'll call this a SAS. With focused use I can see it reaching better than acceptable shaves. Swapping a different handle would negate the off center cam effect but I'm not sure that makes much difference. A different Focus for another month. Good Shaves Y'all!
I took a quick poll. Society seems somewhat supportive. Not sure what that means. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
Razor:Timeless Stainless Steel C .95 gap w/Timeless Barber Pole Handle Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1) Brush: El Druida Red Heart Chakte Kok/African Blackwood 2 Band Soap: Route 66 Ghost Town Aftershave: Floid Blue Sometimes everything comes together for a pure BBS. Today was one of these shaves. Timeless Razor OC is amazing and with my favorite blade Gillette Silver Blue things just work out. The brush with the 2 band knot is amazing. Route 66 Ghost Town is outstanding soap. .
I used an Armenian polling company that speaks no English. Can't be any worse than most we've seen lately.
No intervention necessary. It's a beautiful morning. SOTD with travel kit. Ogallala Bay Rum Soap Stick EJ DE89 Razor Gillette Silver Blue (1) Captains Choice Bay Rum. Have a wonderful week!
NOVember!! November 13 Grand Blade Trial Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (6) Blade - (2) Soap - Arko Brush - BoS Omega 10066 Post - Alum Well one of the down sides to finishing less than DFS, like last night, is it shows up the next afternoon. I noticed at work today that I was a bit scruffy by mid afternoon. But, no worries, really. I was looking forward to opening the Slim up to 6 tonight and giving it a little extra to work with just adds to the effect. The BoS was on deck tonight and I got the usual mountain of lather out of it with the Arko. The first pass was very noisy and wasn't as smooth as last night but....it wasn't rough either. Just that tactile feel of the blade working, and working well. Second pass, XTG, again noisier than last night but the feel was smooth and very nice and comfortable. By the time I got to ATG and Slide it was a great feeling shave with no issues or problems, and the finish is high-DFS. Great finish. Alum wasn't a problem so all in all it is a great shave. I still don't think it's as sharp as some, but definitely not on the dull list either. A very nice shave tonight and I'm hoping it may improve a bit on 9 tomorrow night. Maybe this is one of those blades that thrives on high gap and exposure. I like the images of the pyramids on the wrapper for the Asco blades, paying homage to their manufacturing home. Egypt, of course, is one of the cradles of early advanced civilization. So advanced, in fact, that we can trace our use of the most advanced technology today back to those same traditions!
Been busy so it is a double write up. Boar test with Route 66 and the weapon of choice is my Feon 172 and Omega Pro. The Omega make short work of the Route 66, lots of wet slick lather. It is messy to shave with but works great with straights. An excellent shave, no blood, no irritation and BBS. The final test for Route 88, the hot scuttle test. I always use a 'soft' brush so I can soak up the heat from the scuttle. Fired up the kettle and I was surprised to see how well Route 66 held up in the heat. The Vie Long silver tip was slinging hot, wet, slick lather all over the place. The lather was not as wet as usual but since I was using a DE, no problem. Today's weapon was a new to the den, DOC in stainless loaded with a Super Iridium. Great shave, just one weeper, a tiny tickle from the alum and BBS. It is going to be a crazy week and like @mrchick I will on the road later this week.... or on the plane.
May you have a safe journey and return to us in health! @mrchick Brian - looks good from here. Carry on! Have a great trip and God bless.
November 14, 2016 Wolfman WR-01 Ti OC with Hempel Ti Personna 74 (16) “Los Tres Amigos Dos” CH 2 Synthetic LE Mystic Water Eucalyptus & Spearmint Witch Hazel Floid Blue As usual the weekend was to short but at least a good shave is a nice way to start a Monday morning. The CH2 synthetic whipped up the Mystic Water into a rich slick lather. Three passes and minimal touch ups ended in my normal near BBS. The performance of the blade is starting to drop off causing me to work harder for the same results. I finished up the shave with a splash of Floid Blue. I hope everyone has a great Monday.
Gillette Tech Bulldog Handle Gillette 7OC Russian Green Semogue BC Texugo AOS Lavender SC Alum Quick shave this morning. Not bad, but not exceptional either.
November 14 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush Stirling Frozen Tundra Schick Type G3 Stirling Unscented PSB Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill AS It was a great Menthol Monday this morning. After a nice walk on a cool morning, I almost didn't use the Frozen Tundra, but I am glad I did. Nice slick, and very cool lather. The G3 gave me a DFS after two passes and a little clean up. The Glacial Lemon Chill was the final part of this shave, and it was a perfect wrap up. The G3 has officially earned a permanent spot in my den. It is just a great little razor. I think the G3 are a perfect balance of efficiency and easy going. You can just zip along with them, get a close shave, and yet they are very forgiving. I am looking forward to this Monday, and I hope everyone has a great day!
