It is a great razor. I am still getting used to the size and heft, but it shaves so smoothly. The fit and finish is fantastic. I am definitely pleased. Thanks for introducing them to me.
Gillette Tech Bulldog Handle Rapira Swedish Supersteel (4) Semogue BC Mistura Arko SS Alum Another nice shave.
November 21 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush Stirling Cool SS Gillette Rocket Stirling Unscented PSB Kramperts Finest Frostbite It was a wonderful shave this morning. I really enjoy the Rocket. I paired it with a Rapira SS, which was the blade I used for my initial 30 Day Rule. I haven't used it since really, as I shortly after tried the Rapira PL and enjoyed them. Today, this blade was very smooth and comfortable. This combo really worked today. The shave was even better, since I was able to get back to the gym for the first time since my surgery. It was actually nice to shave in the locker room. I hope everyone has a great day!
November 21, 2016 Wolfman WR-01 Ti OC with Hempel Ti Feather “Los Tres Amigos Dos” CH 2 Synthetic LE Route 66 Rum Runner Witch Hazel A great shave this morning was a perfect way to start the week. Route 66 soaps are easy to lather and with the CH2 the lather just exploded. I really enjoy the residual slickness of Route 66 soaps as well. After 3 passes and minimal touch ups, I ended with a near BBS. On a Monday morning I just did not feel up to chasing the baby. I hope everyone has a great Monday.
I've had 2 ingrown whiskers near/on my adam's apple this month. I wonder if the Slim and the setting of 5 has something to do with it. I have noticed that my neck hasn't been as clean shaven lately. I've not had an ingrown whisker in quite a while, so 2 in one month is sort of surprising.
Brush Jayaruh #94 with Whipped Dog high mountain badger knot Soap Proraso Red Tub Razor Rockwell s6 #4 plate Blade Feather (1) Old spice aftershave splash with a good amount of Florida Water. It's a cold morning here in South Florida. Temps were in the 50s when I got up, so I decided to go with some old spice aftershave to pair up with the brisk weather. Easily lathered up a big bowl of Proraso, got a sold DFS from the new feather with a two pass shave. I finished it off with a cold water splash (usually tap water is not cold here) and used the Florida Water for a nice addition to the old spice.
Looks more like Russia yesterday and today. Still snowing with more expected over night. A wood stove, a glass of wine, and a good book. That is unless the roof caves in as a result of the weight of the snow.
Razor: Gillette President Y 1 Blade: Feather Platinum (2) Brush: Shavemac Zebra, Honeycomb 2 Band Badger Soap: Route 66 Frozen Margarita Aftershave: Fine Platinum The reason I choose Frozen Margarita should be obvious.
Fantastic Photo. Frozen Margarita is one of my favorite soaps of all time. I will certainly order some more in the spring.
November 21, 2016 Razor: G3 Aristocrat Adjustable (4) Blade: Astra SP (1) Brush: VdH Boar Soap: Mineral Fusion After a set of really great shaves from the FatBoy and Astra, I decided to pull out my favorite razor- the Slim Adjustable. Everything was going great, right up to the end of the second pass when I had a total technique fail and cut myself right above the upper lip. This shouldn't have been a big deal, but this ended up being one of those cuts that doesn't close from just the cold water or the alum. No, I had to sit with toilet paper on my mouth until it closed only to reopen it a few minutes later accidentally and have to do the whole thing again. This did not go over well with DW who feels I really should give up this old-style shaving sh*t because all I keep doing is cutting up my face. I explained that this was a stupid mistake that could have been made with any razor, but I'm not sure this made much difference to her. All I can say tonight is, for those of you whose spouses/SO's put up with with shaving experiments/shenanigans/et al., go give that person a big kiss because you are lucky indeed.
Just make sure you don't bleed on them when you give them that kiss. Might turn a saving gesture into a counterproductive problem.
Sorry for my inactivity lately friends. Lost my Dad 2 weeks ago and haven't been in the mood much for being on forums or shaving in general. Things while tough are slowly getting back to somewhat normal. Shaved for the first time in about 2 and a half weeks today and it felt amazing. Loaded up the Pain Stick with a Feather Super Pro and went to town on the beard. Like riding a bike the Pain Stick felt natural and like an extension of my arm. No nicks, cuts, irritation or curse words needed. Finished off with The Veg and spent a relaxing day home with the kids. Hope everyone is having a great Monday (oxymoron?) and I look forward to catching up on what I have missed. @NCoxSTL still no Tiger blade shaves? You disgust me
First of all, condolences for your loss. I lost my Dad many years ago and I certainly feel your loss. Don't worry about being gone a bit. But welcome back and great to know the shave went that well. I understand your disappointment with the lack of Tiger shaves from me lately. However, I would think my most recent failure with the Feather SS would serve to relieve your disgust. If you haven't run onto that one yet it was last Tuesday, just to narrow your reading down. Again, good to have you back.
