I guess this would by my Thanksgiving shave since it is Thursday here. Not a holiday so it is off to work to make the donuts. It was cold this morning, -7C, so I decided to turn up the heat on the Crowne and Crane (veggie). Was in the mood for my Joris DE and loaded it with Super Iridium. Cranked up the kettle and let the heat begin. Usually the veggie soaps don't hold up under the heat but to my pleasant surprise the C&C performed better in the heat that with just warm water. I was able to get the wet lather I like for SR shaving even if it was for a DE. The Joris is aggressive (same as a Fatip but with a pretty handle and big price) and happily slid around wacking the whiskers. I felt an epic shave was possible so I went for it...... finished with an epic shave.

November 24, 2016 Wolfman WR-01 Ti OC with Hempel Ti Feather Romera Olivewood Synthetic Route 66 Twisted Tweed Witch Hazel I was up early in order to get the turkey started in the Big Green Egg. With the bird smoking away, I had a nice relaxing shave. The CH2 Synthetic whipped up the Route 66 Twisted Tweed into a wonderful slick lather. A nice easy three pass shave with minimal touch ups ended just short of near perfect BBS. Guests will be arriving around lunch so I am back to my cooking duties. To those that celebrate I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day with family and friends and to everyone I hope you have a great Thursday.
Thanksgiving Day Gillette New LC razor Astra SP blade (1) Kent BK8 brush Tabac shave stick Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Fine Platinum aftershave Hello everyone, and Happy Thanksgiving. I've been away from The Shave Den this week, but I'm hangin' in there with my New LC loaded with an Astra SP blade. This combo is working really well, consistently delivering two-pass near-BBS shaves. I touched up more than I usually do this morning, and I'm super close. The Astra SPs may have edged out Feathers as my favorite blade over the course of this monthly focus. They are very smooth, and I'm easily getting four shaves from each blade. I wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope you have a wonderful time celebrating this day with family and dear friends. I'm thankful for each of you as my friends.
I had an early morning Thanksgiving shave this morning with my travel kit. Ogallala Bay Rum Shave Stick Edwin Jagger DE89 Astra SP (2) Followed by a nice boat ride. Thanksgiving was not the usual for me. First course was a "Vietnam Pizza" which is rice paper grilled with a filling of meat, herbs, egg, and sauces. Second course was grilled octopus, enoki mushrooms wrapped with ground pork, okra, and tomato. It was fantastic! I just wish I could find some pumpkin pie Have a wonderful Thanksgiving guys. Good night.
Gillette Flat Bottom Tech Bulldog Handle Perma-Sharp Super (2) Semogue BC Mistura MW Sandalwood Rose Alum Superior 70 444 ASB Awesome but unfortunate shave this morning. When I went to grab the glass 4711 bottle i keep for decanting Superior 70, I noticed it was broken in a number of spots and empty. Best guess is the sliding around when opening and closing the shave drawer caused an impact and broke it. Regardless, the shave was about 99% BBS albeit with a little irritation.
Happy Thanksgiving! I think what I like about the warm water shaves, is how my skin feels after a shave. Feels more hydrated and relaxed.
November 24, 2016- "No Expectations" Focus Razor: G3 Aristocrat Adjustable (4) Blade: Astra SP (3) Brush: VdH Boar Soap: Mineral Fusion/Dove Hydrating Cream Simply put, this was one of those shaves where it all just came together right. DFS, FTW.
Thanksgiving shave 34 with a straight I was sitting around today waiting on people to do their showers. I decided to give this straight a new hone job. One of my smoothest shaves yet. DFS no irritation. Perfect shave for a nice family get together, this afternoon. I am not forcing any strokes. If it is not comfortable. I change strokes and live with what I get. Far less drama this way. Slowly I may develop more strokes. All in good time. Have a fantastic Thanksgiving. Really take a few minutes and think about how VERY fortunate we are. Good thoughts, Good words and Good deeds. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Razor: Gillette President Y 1 Blade: Feather Platinum (4) Brush: Shavemac Zebra, Honeycomb 2 Band Badger Soap: Route 66 Frozen Cranberry Citrus Aftershave: Fine American Blend Great shave using this combination of tools. The Route 66 Cranberry Citrus is a blissful blend of tart cranberries, juicy red grapefruit and sweet orange, with tangy tangerine and lemon-lime. A bright synergy of fragrance that is fabulous year round. It is very easy to build a beautiful lather with and has an amazing aroma. I hope everyone is enjoying their day with family and friends.
Looking great Brian. Happy Thanksgiving. I also had an early start to the day. My breakfast isn't as interesting as your though. It did, however, make me think of you.
That's funny. This trip also reminded me how thankful I am for our service men and women. I've seen some sobering things here. Thank you !
Razor: Genco 5/8 spike tip, rosewood scales and aluminum wedge Strop: Drygulch Leatherworks Chromexcel Horse/ Linen Brush: Monogramed Aluminum brush, with 28mm Ubersoft 2 knot Soap: Barrister & Mann Lime, Lavender, & Cedarwood Post: Cold Water, Alum, Thayer’s Lavender Aftershave: Stephan Island Lime with heavy menthol. Used this razor a few days ago, and it was pulling and a little harsh. I refreshed the edge on my Black Arkansas. 100 laps lightening the pressure and stropping on chromium oxide, linen, and leather to finish it off. Trying to use up the rest of this soap, and with this soap eating monster of a brush makes an awesome lather. Went for three passes, and smooth, smooth, smooth. No cuts or weepers, and a high grade DFS. Happy Thanksgiving to my friends on the 30 day thread. Hope everyone had a good one.
Day 3 with Crowne and Crane veggie edition. Yesterday it reformed well in the heat so I decided to give another round in the scuttle so I fired up the kettle again. Today I went with one of my best shaving straights a PRC western grind kami. The brush is a very soft TGN set in an elk antler. The soap preformed great in the heat again. The razor was gliding across my face. This razor takes a great edge, even better than it's PRC sisters in my den. Four passes and faceturbating revealed a BBS (confirmed long lasting BBS for me) so I thought I would have an epic shave two days in row. Alas the alum gave just a tickle. Still an excellent shave.
