November 27 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush TSD Lanolin Egyptian Spice Gem Junior Bar Stirling Unscented PSB Clubman Vanilla AS It was a no shave day, as I had to get the car loaded up and family ready for our drive back home from my parents. I went with the Gem Junior Bar this morning, which honestly I was likely to keep no matter how it shaved, but the shave just confirmed it. I got a near BBS on to smooth, easy passes. Just a great shave. I don't have too many more shaves left of the TSD Egyptian Spice, but this has been a great soap. The Clubman Vanilla seems to match well with it, and it was a perfect wrap up this morning. I hope everyone has a great Sunday!
Here's the kit I used for the month. Only missing is a gold NDC tech that I gave back to my friend that lent it to me. English flat bottom & triangle slot usa are wearing a Weber Bulldog handle, and Feather portable has a BRW Improved handle. When the BC run of Semogue brushes were just out, I was able to pick up most of them on the used market. The mixed knot Mistura brush is by far my favorite. Sorry for the crappy photo quality.
Razor: Gillette Adjustable Fat Boy w/ case & blade pack Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (1) Brush: Elite Razor Los Tres Amigos Desert Ironwood Beehive w/Sunrise Synthetic Soap: Route Reef Point Soaps Tranquility Aftershave: Folsom & Co. Capri Excellent three passes with a slight clean up around my trouble spots. All the pieces of the shave worked out great. This shave is very near BBS. Which is great as I haven't used this razor for some time.
Well done! Thanks for the group hug and for so accurately capturing how I feel tonight. Three days of non-stop sales. I live for these kind of weekends but wonder sometimes how I live THROUGH them.
I got home late last night after two weeks in a Vietnam. I promptly went into a travel induced coma. This afternoon I had three days of whiskers that needed mowing down. I have missed my straights and pulled out my favorite gear for a leisurely shave. SOTD Route 66 Sweeney Todd Soap B-400 Brush by Tom Wade and Butcher Celebrated Razor Lucky Tiger Ogallala Bay Rum Best shave I have had in two weeks! It feels good to be home. I've missed you guys. Here is my glad to be back group hug.
NOVember!! November 27 Grand Blade Trial Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (6) Blade - (2) Soap - Arko Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip Post - Alum, Nivea Original Man what a wild three days. I set a record for sales in three days at my store - 58 hours of sales and nearly a thousand bucks an hour average. Not bad for beds. I just didn't see my own bed enough given the amount of time I was on my feet. But, it's done, and my weekend has arrived. Second night of the Bolzano Superinox blade trial and I'm ready to get it done and sit back with a nice vodka martini. Great Arko lather as always, and the Wolf did its usual fantastic job. I need to get on the list to get another one of these at some point. The razor is on 6 for a "normal" aggressiveness and the first pass was silky smooth and effective. Second pass just as good and the third no issues either. I didn't take a lot of time on detail tonight, letting the razor and blade do their thing. Ended with a very near BBS and a great silent alum. Added Nivea to keep conditioning things up. This cold snap has dried things out in a big way. It did start raining a little tonight and is supposed to for two days but it's that cold winter rain. Anywho - great shave with a great finish and the Superinox is doing what it does. Delivering the shave without incident. I am thinking it will stay under control in the wide open Slim tomorrow night. We'll find out. Hope your holiday weekend was a good one! Three more days before DECadent December rolls in. More on that as we get closer. Have a great night and a better Monday morning!
Wisdom, y'all. Over the course of this shave thing... PTFE blades like Voskhod and GSB have always been the most consistent for my techniques. Since going to shavette, the PTFE blades still are the easiest to use when shooting for an aggressive, yet smooth two pass DFS.
November 28, 2016 Wolfman WR-01 Ti OC with Hempel Ti Feather CH2 Synthetic Jade LE “Tres Amigos Dos” Route 66 Twisted Tweed Witch Hazel Floid Blue A great shave this morning certainly eased the transition back to reality after a long holiday weekend. Three passes and minimal touch ups ended in a near BBS. I finished off the shave with a splash of Floid Blue. I hope everyone has a great Monday.
