I prefer Arko, because It's scent doesn't smell like bug repellent, like Williams does. I can lathe r both, but the wife and I cannot get past the Williams scent.
Plus, I can grate Arko, let the scent dissipate, and add essential oils to make it smell great.
Arko lathers easily, costs little, and is super slick. YMMV.

Williams soap smells good but no matter how hard I try I can't make it lather well. Arko smells pretty good, and it lathers like a champ.

I prefer Arko between those two choices. Williams is actually rather slick, but the dissipating lather is quite disappointing. Arko lathers easily, is stable, and is cheap. Williams is cheap too - I can get it for $1 in the local stores. But Arko is about $1 a stick too.

I am the lone voter for Williams, but I must clarify: Vintage Williams with Tallow as the #1 ingredient.

Can't get Williams here, so that's an easy choice. No polls in Tapatalk though.

I vote for Arko it's lather like a champ really quick, also super cheap when buying a whole box that last a very long time and is super slick.

Williams definitely screwed up their formula, no doubt. Too bad. The Tallow pucks rival anything being manufactured today.

I can get a good lather with the current Williams. Just takes a ton of water. I mixed my Williams puck with a Stirling sample and ended up with something pretty good. But Arko is soooo easy to use.

I can't use Arko as it irritates my face. Williams does not and I have no problem getting a great lather from it.

I'm confused... I thought current Williams *is* a Tallow soap?

Out of curiosity, I accept that vintage Williams is better but what exactly did they change to "break" it?

Not really. Their 1st iteration had Tallow listed as the #1 ingredient. 2nd Iteration has Sodium Tallowate listed #1, now, potassium palmate is the #1 ingredient. Not good (IMO)
