After butchering my scalp with El Jefe yesterday, I let Señor I2 handle la cabeza today with predictably fine results. I don't see a future with El Jefe; while I have a number of SEs I enjoy as beard only shavers - - the 1912s and MMS - - I'm just not feeling it with this guy.

You win some, you lose some, right? Was it yesterday you said that you can't love 'em all? You are completely right.

I am the same way, but backwards from you. I love El Jefe, but could take or leave The Hawk.

I think you and I sit right on the same page though, in the The General is the best of the three?

    Happy shaves!

You know given the QC issues surrounding El Jefe it's entirely possible I got one even more defective than average, as mine won't cut well ATG on my tough chin or crown stubble without chatter n blood and I've been very careful about alignment.

Mine is irritating too. (Alignment) I spent four or five minutes getting it to line up properly the last time I changed the blade. Others say it is nothing at all. I also don't head shave either, so there's a world of difference between our uses. It is too bad, because it is one of the best shaving razors I own. I hope he re-vamps it and makes another run at it, because I would really like to have a good one.

I'm ambivalent on the ethics of selling a knowingly defective razor. While they are now being sold with full disclosure you can be sure in time the secondary market will see these things trading without such benefit. They can fly under consumer protection radar where a large company would never be able to do so.

I agree with your sentiment, but in the case of this razor you can take comfort in the fact that most of them will have stripped out and stretched threads, thus ending up in the garbage, long before they will be sold as used.

Yep. Since I'm not a big fan of heavy handles first thing I tried was swapping an old Gillette... Black flakes a flyin..

That's of course what I was thinking but actually I was being generous. I'm not really that ambivalent.

Excellent shave with the PAL Injecto-Matic this morning. Wonderful, slick, protective lather from the Arko shave cream. Three passes for a dolphin smooth finish. Have a great day guys. :D

Yesterday's GEM Featherweight shave (sub-par) lead to a change back to the I1 today. You just can't beat a Schick injector. Nice, effortless shave this morning with Mitchell's. This is a great way to end the work week.

    Have a great day!

Perry, has the I1 surpassed your G1 in your ranking ?

That's a good question! I think they're neck and neck at the moment. The last time I used the I1 for several shaves and then returned to the G1 it was clear that the G felt more comfortable to me. However, the I1 is really holding its own at the moment. So no, it hasn't surpassed the G1, but it's catching up!

Autostrop VC1/GEM, Krona/Feather. Great shave all around with the GEM even picking up a bit of the toughest head stubble the Feather left behind.

Slip a twin into that I1 and you'll find it totally transformed. It makes a good thing even better. :happy036:

Terrific, smooth shave this morning! The Schick I1 is growing on me in leaps and bounds. I need to go back to the G1 soon for comparison, but the I1 ranks right up there as my favorite razor. Two passes and some ATG touch-up lead to one of the smoothest shaves I've had in a long, long time. The Stirling lather was incredible - really protective and slick. Great stuff.

    Enjoy your day!

Combined shave with a couple of winners here. Really love both these quirky razors.
