Oh it is certainly a functional work of art. Did you install the new knot?

Yes I installed the knot. I believe it could be set a little deeper, but I wait and see how it works out over the long term. If I remember correctly I but a quarter under the knot to raise it up a little.

    Simpson Jade M-7 Manchurian LE
    Saponificio Varesino Stella Alpina
Wolfman WR1-DC with WRH7 Polished Brass
    Feather HS #2
    Barrister and Mann Critique

A two pass, WTG/XTG and ATG, shave with clean up ended with a near BBS.
The OC comb, used for the first pass, left very little stubble, just in my trouble areas. I used the SB for the second pass. It eliminated the stubble and left my face tingling with a scary close shave. I'm Orca smooth today!
Saponificio Varesino’s Stella Alpina lathered easily into meringue like peaks, with excellent lubrication, and good post shave feel. The cool feeling lather has a clean refreshing smell. Top Notes of Lemon Bergmot & Basil with Body Notes of Citrus, Myrtle & Eucalyptus, ending with Cypress & Amber.

    First decadent December shave:

Mastro Livi, Castle Forbes, Thäter 2 band finished off some shots of Dior Cuir Cannage.

My top straight and my top brush with one of my top soaps. CF delivered some great lather and the edge felt very smooth. Zero irritation but surprisingly just missed BBS.

    Irritation A+ Closeness A- Smoothness A+ Sharpness A

    Decadent December Day 2

Castle Forbes with a big Simpson Polo 8 Super Badger, Cobra Classic with a fresh Feather Pro and some vintage Guerlain Derby AS.

CF was awesome today and the Cobra reminded me why it is the best of all the Feather based SE razors I have tried. An epic shave, A+ for both irritation and closeness plus the Derby smells awesome.

    Blackbird ~ Thater 3 Band ~ I Coloniali Mango ~ Stirling Gentleman

I couldn't think of a better way to kick off the month than with my softest brush, my favorite DE, and I Coloniali. A nice relaxing shave that ended up nearly perfect. I finished it up with my wife's favorite aftershave, Stirling Gentleman. It's going to be a good month.

    December 1

I was running late this morning. I have a pile of razors, and I can use any of them in my Decadent December focus. Danger is my middle name, so I went for the Pain Stick! I had a nice, easy, although hurried, first pass. I decided to do some touch-ups around my mouth and chin before rushing out the door. On a right-to-left stroke across my upper lip, I felt the blade dig in. I've heard this phenomenon described as a rough landing. I'm tempted to call it stupidity. I moved the razor away from my face and just waited for the flow of red. And there it was!

When all was said and done, I had a nice pile of red-spotted tissue paper, and I used my styptic pencil for the first time in months! It worked like a champ, and I am forever indebted to styptic pencil makers everywhere. The Alum just wasn't enough this morning. My Bride was asleep, so she couldn't provide a roll of paper towels as good wives are known to do during times like these.

I kept painting my upper lip with the styptic until the bleeding stopped, and I left the house with a white upper lip. I hurried past everyone when I got to work and went straight to the bathroom to inspect the damage and splash water on my face. All is good now. It was actually just a small cut, but my lip tends to bleed a lot. I'll try the Pain Stick again tomorrow, albeit at a more leisurely pace.

I'm glad to get my bad shave out of the way so early in the month. I hope you got up early enough to enjoy a nice, easy shave.

For the poll, I had to go with the food. So far, nothing is decadent with me.

perhaps I have the wrong understanding of "decadent". Doesn't it mean "declining"?
