I've got 14 SRs already and this is a generous PIF. It takes me back to the early 1960s at my grandparents house in Brooklyn. My grandfather had a mug with his name on it, with his straight razors and brush right beside it. I wish I could go back right now and ask him about shaving with SRs, about life and then give him a hug and say thanks.

With that said, I hope the razor goes to someone who appreciates it and makes his own memories with his own family.

I'm in. I've never tried either a straight or a shavette or a DEvette. I've never sold any shaving gear, although I swap and PIF. If I win this, I will never sell it, PIF it if I must but, if I can't figure out the SR lifestyle, I plan to keep that beauty on my counter. I plan to go down the SR rabbit hole when I retire, which is probably a couple of years away. If I win, I might decide to retire sooner than I thought... I remember my Grandpa's collection of SRs. I wish I knew where they are now. Nice PIF. Thank you for the opportunity!

I'm in! It's a beautiful looking straight!
I have 1 straight razor that is a family heirloom that belonged to my great-grandpa! I think they are cool because it turns shaving into an art and a skill, not just the mundane "gotta get rid of the scruff for work" routine. I love the time it takes, a real form of meditation for me.

The only way I would part from this SR would be through a PIF here in the Den.

I've got very little experience with straight razor shaving, but what attracts me is the fact that you *have* to concentrate on only one thing (shaving) to prohibit yourself from cutting off your head. That and the fact that it is a skill which isn't an easy one to attain.

 

I'm in. I've always wanted to try a straight. I never have and I want to join the dark side.

I think they are cool because it brings us back to a whole different age and mind set. When you use a straight you have to take your time. In today's society, and even with DE razors, people wanted a faster shave, not necessarily a better shave. I think it is something that will force us to slow down.

I'm in! I've tried both SR and shavette, and use those on weekends only. I gotta say mine has been a tough journey, never been able to get stellar shaves from the SR, perhaps due to it not being sharp enough. I do get good shaves from my Feather AC Kamisori, but those are using feather disposable which are crazy sharp! Long story to lead into why I think straights are cool. They make me focus so much on my shave it's like I'm meditating. Anyways, I haven't given up yet, hopefully I can master it eventually.

 

Have to wait for payday, but I definitely plan on getting in on the raffle!

 

Not in. This is a great straight razor, and a great example of American steel. I have a couple of Genco razors, including one of these. They are fantastic shavers. Great PIF, Keith!

I think straight razors are cool because no consumable hardware is required. Even after a zombie apocalypse, you can have a clean shave.
I have posted regularly in the past 3 30 day foci.
I have never owned nor used a straight razor (is this one shave ready?). 2017 will be the year.

SR are cool because of the history connected to them and of course because the darkside is cool (and has better cookies I hear). One of my memories of my uncle was going with him while he got a SR shave at the local barber. My father has never been a SR guy and was more of an electric guy for most of my life. So seeing the skill of someone using a SR was definitely much cooler than watching the old Norelco razor rip out hairs.
