Decedent December. One of my favorite razors. Touched it up this morning on the Welsh Slate and Black Arkansas. Very smooth, and almost there for keenness. I forget how nice the skin feel on this soap is, even if it's a pain to lather. Dug the tip of the razor in for one small nick, but cold water closed it up. Three passes on the face, and four on the neck for a high grade DFS. Alum was a little hot on the neck, but the Lucky Tiger with menthol calmed it down. This was the first aftershave I used menthol crystals in, and I might have gone a little overboard. Face was frozen for about twenty minutes.

That has been my experience too. I have found a safety razor that I couldn't coax a great shave out since I started straights. I still find some are easier than others, but all can provide a great shave. It almost makes me want to try my former nemesis again: the Gem MMOC.

    Thank you, Doug.

I'm going to have to try your mule shaving method this week as well.

Go for it. I really enjoy both of my Micromatics. Not that any of my non straights will be seeing much use in the near future. No turning from The Dark Side

I PIF'ed my MMOC, and am trying to avoid any more razor purchases, so this will have to stay on the back burner for a while. If the I stumble across one in the local antique shops, I may consider it again. That was one razor that I just never could seem to get to work for me.

I have a spare if you would like it. It is user grade but functions perfectly.

    Razor: Gillette Flair Tip A 3 1955
    Blade: Lord Platinum Class (4)
Brush: El Druida Mopane 2 Band
Soap: Maggard Razor Orange Menthol (Sample)
    Aftershave: Maggard Razor Orange Menthol

Started off with a 3 pass shave tonight WTG, ATG, XTG. When I went to squeeze out my brush I still have a ton of lather. I decided to chase the baby and went ATG in the other direction. I ended up with a BBS. Ta da!!!! Thank you and good night.

Sometimes you just have to chase the baby. Great photo Doug. I hope your week goes well.

    December 4

Muhle R41 head (2013) & Weber Bulldog handle
    Feather blade (1)
    Semogue 830 boar brush
    Tabac shave stick
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Captain's Choice Bay Rum aftershave

I switched up my razor and brush to enjoy a nice late afternoon shave. This is the first time I've combined the R41 scalloped head with the heavy Weber Bulldog SS handle. The added weight provided by the handle felt good. I went easy, as the new Samurai-sharp Feather blade combined with this frankenrazor is a rather aggressive set up. The mildly scrubby boar brush is quite a change from my floppy Kent badger bush, but it produced a nice face lather. I made one pass and decided to save the next pass for tomorrow morning. I have a darn fine shave with two small weepers that disappeared when I rinsed my face. I finished with CC Bay Rum - a great selection for a cool December day.

I spent the day hangin' around the house with my Bride and warming my recliner. I hope you all had a blessed Sunday.
