Too much handle weight for that gap and exposure?

Hmm. I was skin stretching on the areas where no blood was drawn but "went slacker" around where the weepers hit. I'll work on that over the next bit - but with milder razors. I have a few other blades I want to test drive this month in other razors first too (Israeli IPs, Personna Lab Blues, PolSilvers, and vintage Gillette Platinum Plus - no Derbys). And some soaps and creams to try with "safe" razors. But I will have a crack at the Fendrihan Scientist again when I don't have any scabs to hit and will try a higher choke hold. I gave that a dry run just now and it feels pretty good actually.

You're on track with the reopening old wounds issue, it may be preventing a real trial.

    What razor is next?

Probably my Gillette Super Adjustable with ... some blade or other in it, I think maybe the Schick Plus Platinum for a safe choice. Mainly it's going to be Castle Forbes lavender shave cream and aftershave tomorrow with a different brush.

You know what I am talking about. Factor in the population increase since you left in 2010 and it is a recipe for a traffic nightmare. Metro Atlanta Drivers are bad enough in rain must less the freezing stuff.

The WDC/Druida whipped up the Nuavia Rossa into a rich lather very easily. The knot has the great backbone and scrub with very good flow through. I stayed with my 2 pass routine, XTG & ATG, followed by touch ups in my trouble spots. I was so close that I decided to chase the baby and get that one spot on my neck. I caught the little guy finishing with a BBS. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

It was an interesting shave this morning, mostly due to a bit of operator error. The first pass was a little rough, but I I figured that maybe 4 shaves was the max for the Rapira PL blade. I went to pass number two, and got a nick, then another. Hmm this doesn't seem right. Kept going, and another nick just above my lip. This time it seemed to register that the blade didn't so much seem rough this whole time, but seemed to be moving. A quick look at the razor, and sure enough, the doors aren't closed all the way. It appears they loosened while in my dopp kit. I tightened them up and finished up my second and final pass. I actually ended with a DFS level of smoothness with the three nicks and a bit of discomfort. After a little over two years of traditional wet shaving, I realize I there are some things that you can't take for granted. I hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning people. How's your day going so far, care to share? I've been shaving using this setup for a week now:
    Merkur 34c razor
Nameless drug store badger hair brush
    TOBS Jermyn st hard soap
    Astra super stainless
Lather and wood after shave balm(odorless).
I am so happy I switched to astra. I had ordered a sample pack of 6 different brands and this is the first one I tried. I've been using derby for about 4 months now and I was just getting horrible results. Ingrown hair, nicks, burn you name it. I was thinking it was my technique but no sir, it was the damn blade. I will never again use derby blades in my life. Astra blades 100 pack is about the same price here in the US but much better performance. The merkur 34 c with astra blades glides through the stubble like butter. I am enjoying this mornings fantastic shave. Do share your experience with the blade and razor combo for this month.

The 34C is a very mild razor and likes a sharp blade. I too like pairing it with an Astra or a GSB. I also find that a less then super sharp blade in it will give me ingrown hairs for two reasons. First I have a tendency to use more pressure then I should when using a blade that feels less sharp for me. And secondly if the blade is tugging on the whiskers before cutting them I feel like that also causes ingrown hairs.
