SOTD: Early morning first shave using this vintage Hoshi Tombo 6000. An ebay salvage with active rust, this razor cleaned up nicely! [IMG] I bevel-set & honed it entirely with a nagura progression on two jnats. Two distinct features on this razor: most western razors have a 3.0" blade length and symmetrical grinds (identical on both sides). This 6k model has an asymmetrical 'kamisori' grind (right-handed) and a much shorter blade length (1.9"). The shorter length is easy and actually quite nice to use; the right-handed grind is more of a challenge for a lefty. It took me a little more time as I became acclimated to this 'backwards' razor. [IMG] Great Slick & thick Soap Commander 'Fortitude' lather & matching menthol-balm helped make it an outstandingly smooth shaving experience.

Nice, effortless shave with Stirling Ozark Mountain and a Schick I1 injector. This is a great combo of products. Ozark Mountain smells like the Christmas season. It's a really nice scent. Plus the performance is exceptional.

Hope you have great shaves and a good day!

Great shave today. Parker is very elegant, th jungle made thick lather which is both rich and slick. And the scent, manly and clean. The Stahly/ MR5 combo does so very nicely. Finished with iced vanilla, cool close and comfy.
Hope y'all did as well, or better. 20161206_083207_resized.jpg 20161206_084709_resized.jpg

    Razor: Razorock SE Hawk
    Blade: Captain Kai Mild (1)
    Brush:VDH Badger
    Lather: Proraso Green
    Pre Shave: Hibco Nag Champa
A/S: Aqua Velva Musk/ Hibco Nag Champa Butter Balm
    Newspaper Date: July 18,1943

An unbelievable shave. My first experience with the "longer" type blade, The Captain Kai Mild cleans the lather off on the 1st stroke, you have nothing left, it`s clean, so you must move on to where the lather is. Kinda hard to get used to, but it doesn`t take long trying to shave where there`s no lather. Just different, not good or bad. I only needed two passes, WTG/ATG with a little extra lather when cleaning up my neck. A very clean and efficient shave, to say the least, almost a BBS. Tomorrow i will go fishing for a dolphin. Wish me luck. Luck to all and God Bless.

    SOTD: 12/6/2016 - "All Stainless"

    Pre: Hot shower
Soap: Captain's Choice Products "Bay Rum"
Brush: Brushguy Shave Supplies "Noah" 3-band Badger
Razor: Phoenix Shaving Stainless DOC Evolution w/ Polsilver Stainless blade (1)
Post: Captain's Choice "Bay Rum" aftershave balm & "Cat O' Nine Tails" aftershave

A great shave today. I love this Bay Rum scent from Captain's Choice. Perfectly balanced IMHO. And they all perform very well. The brush was fantastic, as I would expect. The razor is one efficient beast. My beard had no choice but to run in fear.

Be Smooth and shave it up, everyone!

    Parker Variant razor
    Gillette Silver Blue blade
    Vie-Long Silver Tip brush
    Dr. Selby 3x SC
    Osage Rub/Witch Hazel w/aloe
M&L Florida Water Cologne w/added menthol

Moved the Variant setting to 3 for today's shave and it was a good move. Smooth, comfortable and effective, great shave. Of course, it was helped by the Dr. Selby SC which I think is a much overlooked product. At any rate, I'm ready to go and lovin' the Parker Variant razor. Now go enjoy your day folks.
