Ha ha. As of this morning, I have just enough stubble to feel like a fine grained sandpaper. When I shave this level of whiskers, I get tons of ingrown hairs, and the alum turns me into a dancing and swearing sailor. I skipped the shave this morning.

Awesome photos. I am impressed that the bar keeps getting higher.

Brush Jayaruh #94 with Whipped Dog high mountain badger knot
    Soap Maggards London Barbershop
    Razor 1947 Aristocrat
    Blade Feather (3)
Fine Green Vetiver Aftershave Splash with a good amount of Guerlain Vetiver Eau De Toilette.

I used my antique scuttle to warm the soap and soak the brush. Then the Maggars easily whipped into a very slick lather (thank you secret Santa). On day 3 of the feather I payed very close attention to the feel of the blade and the angle while working on riding the safety bar. After two passes, I could feel a little irritation that was quickly taken care of by the aftershave splash and then out of no where, BAM. BBS. No stubble even on my jaw. I was ready to chuck the blade tomorrow due to the increasing irritation, but it was not so bad and this was my best shave yet. I'll try a 4th day tomorrow... and some more of my Christmas goodies.

You must have mistakenly clicked the multi quote option! Compared to these other photos, mine definitely doesn't get above the bar!

I disagree. Your picture showed every bit of the razor's age, from the flea bites to the warm color old nickel gets when it has been used, then stored for a while. It contrasted a lot with the new blade in it. That picture made me remember saving some of my old razors, and absolutely deserved to be in the group.

Thank you! I guess I get lucky every now and then.

Thank you Adam. I am enjoying the photography almost as much as the shaving at this point. It is certainly more of a challenge than shaving.

Brush: WDC-8 w/ El Druida Manchurian
Soap: Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber (Sample)
    Aftershave: Arko After Shave Balm
Excellent 3 pass shave with no cleanup for a change. Got 7 shaves from the Lord Platinum and was very happy with each and everyone. The Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber is not a bad soap, however, it will not be on buy list.

Yes, thank you. It is a compliment to even have my pictures up there with some of these guys. My photography is pretty amateur.

    Merry Christmas!

Beautiful photo Doug. You've done a wonderful job keeping the brush handle nice and shiny. Mine has developed a patina.

Alumigoose ~ Tulip 2 ~ Henri et Victoria Cigars and Cognac ~ Stirling Curveball

This was my first use (sample) of the Henri et Victoria soap, and the scent is nothing short of fantastic. Slickness was there, not the best ever, but you can't judge the soap on its first use, and it was plenty slick. I found it to be drying, post shave. My face is starting to get that cold weather feel to it, and just in the last few days, the balms and PSO's have been making an appearance.

I have decided that all of my upcoming soap purchases in the near future will be samples. If I REALLY love something then maybe I will buy a tub, but I am collecting tubs of soap at way too rapid a rate.

    Merry Christmas!

    Great picture, Doug.

What about the Chiseled Face did you not like too much? I was think of getting some of this particular scent at some point, as I have the Sherlock soap and really like it.

Beautiful photo. Loved the Buddha in the SOTD thread as well. That is a great idea on samples of soaps since they would allow for variety without a big commitment.

Thank you. I really only have 3-4 brands that I really, REALLY like, and I need to pare it down to a few scents each, and maybe a tub from a couple of others. I have already decided that no matter what, I will not buy any more until some are gone.

Mark, I always find myself sitting and looking at your pictures. Your setups almost always do something to grab me. Excellent!

I really like that brush. I have decided that I am only going to buy one upper end brush a year from now on, and that Captain has been on my radar since the second I saw it.

    Merry Christmas!
