  1. Only one word - Heroic - and one character - Captain 'Murica - can describe that shave!

  2. Chris, I don't think I've ever seen The Veg in the wild or smelled it on someone. Just havin' some fun with 'ya. However, I'm sure all the girls love it!

  9. I hate it when Mrs. Pickled sits next to me on the couch reading over my shoulder too.
  10. Jim, what a great photo. It brought a smile to my face and instantly put me in the Christmas spirit. That's not an easy task for me. ;)
  11. Thank you, Clint! It is was a nice relaxing morning with my family. We had a bit of cold spell for SE Texas, so the fire place was put to good use for once!

  18. December 10

Muhle R41 head (2013) & Weber Bulldog handle
    Astra SP blade (2)
    Semogue 830 boar brush
    Tabac shave stick
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Pinaud Clubman

This has been my set up all week. I completed three shaves using Murica's best blade, followed by two shaves with the Astra SP. The Astra is definitely smoother than the Feather, and it's a pleasure to use right through the fourth shave. I received some Perma-Sharp Super blades this week, so I will try one of those next. I also have some Polsilver Super Iridiums on the way. St. Pete's finest blades are slowly taking the majority position in the den.

When I pay attention to the basics - prep, lather, blade angle, and no pressure - the R41 scalloped head combined with the heavy Weber Bulldog SS handle provides a great shave. I completed one pass with a few touch-ups on two days of growth this morning and ended up with a darn fine shave. I finished with Pinaud Clubman, my usual Saturday aftershave.

Winter's finally here. I hope you all are having a great weekend!
  19. Good post Charlie. I've used that blade for a few shaves and I'm very happy with it so far.
  20. Thanks Doug. I hope you are having a great weekend. :)
