Back at it today with "Witte's Rattler". I hadn't shaved in two days and thought it might be a rough one but no problem. Smooth and clean! :shaver

I like the jumps in my ability that occur when I step away from things a bit. It has worked on mild DE's, straights, and other shaving implements.
Seems like I reapproach with a clearer frame of mind.

This is the other straight I inherited from my Grandpa years ago. I last shaved with it about 30 shaves ago. OK shave but definitely more irritation than I'd like - which is what I noted last time I used it. This one will probably be kept for sentimental reasons only and not likely to be used often. :chores016: I don't often shave daily but that I wanted to get more muscle memory with that Guillotine style stroke. :)

    - Jeeves Shaving Soap (Sample he gave me at Big West Shave event)
    - TGN Synthetic
    - Filarmonica 14 Doble Temple
    - Trader Joe's ASB
    - And of course Thayer s WH with Aloe and Cucumber

The Filly gave me learning scars about two years ago but has decided I am now worthy of her shaves. I HIGHLY recommend Jeeves offerings. The soap is full, thick and slippery. Plan on picking up a full tin after NB16.

Another fine shave with "Witte's Rattler ". This blade is very smooth and inspires confidence when shaving. Have a great Sunday guys!

I've had this razor for about a month, just begging me to abandon my 30 day focus with the Black Jack. I held firm and today was the day:) This is a 5/8 fully hollow blade from Robinson bros and co. Louisville KY. Very hard to see is the inscription"Sharp Set" Patent"Hollow Ground" on the blade. This hardware store went out of business in 1927. I believe that the"orange creamsicle" scales are bakelite, so I estimate this razor is right around 100 years old (?). I picked this up from Logan Grose of Grose Legacy Razors.
I felt a little anxious when picking this up for the first shave. "What kind of shave was I in for?". Kind of like driving a new car for the first time.....I made lather with Tabac cream &soap combo...uber insurance so to say...
All I can say is WOW!! This razor is thicker and heaver than what I was used to. Comparing the two not a huge difference, which helps me realize that I didn't destroy my other blade. This did seem a little smoother though. I did skip a shave yesterday, which really gives my skin time to recover from daily shaving. Ended up with bbs all over ( even did a fools pass).. Zero irritation, cuts weepers. Celebrating Sundays Shave today:)
