I bounced for a The Dirt Band show in '89 when they played the Anoka County Fair. (Twin Cities, MN) Hornsby wasn't there, it was more of a Fishin in the Dark show. Beer tent stuff. That particular show, I ended up chasing after some douchebag for some "God remembers what" reason, and slashed my leg open on the top of a pounded tent spike. I don't even remember, 30-40 stitches, but still a Hell of a scar.
Well now I looked the album up, and how can you beat kicking off with Jonny Cash and following with John Prine? Thanks for the headsup, @jmudrick !
It's a fine collection. The first show I ever saw was the Dirt Band in its original configuration playing the Hollywood Palladium at the LA Teenage Fair in spring '67.( I was a child at the time...)
Sounds way cooler than the prolly $50 bucks I made for bouncing drunks all night. I was always a lover, (I wish) not a fighter. I couldn't help being born kinda big, it just paid bills sometimes. All of the bouncing I ever did, I had way better times doing doors for "whatever"...... just helping out, than actual Simms "rolled up T-shirt" stuff. Little of both.... LONG time ago. Decades. But the 80's were a blast.......
Music appreciation knows no age restrictions. You just wind up with a different concert t-shirt collection.
Another Mikis Theodorakis song which I love. (and my wife hates!) The singer is George Dalaras The song is Tis Dhikeosinis tis Ilie. (Greek for Justice of the Sun)
One more and that'll be it! (for a while!) Dhoksa to Theo (Thanks to God) sung by Mikis himself - love this song!
First concert t-shirt I remember getting was on the Clash's Give Me Enough Rope tour in 79. Saw them twice that tour. Sadly the t-shirts did not survive. https://www.youtube.com/shared?ci=QsGhPprJpZw
At 42, despite age and issues, I am stronger and more flexible, albeit smaller, than I was at thirty. It's never too late to win it back.
