Just placed my last order to Queen Charlotte Soaps, a sad day. QCS creams were my favourite and my top performer in a hot scuttle.

I broke out Red(tea kettle) and Big Blue (my large scuttle) and in honour of QCS made a huge batch of steaming hot lather. I used a big brush, Rooney type 3 and to enjoy a Sunday symphony of whiskers being whacked my Dovo Master's.

28 hours of stubble, hot lather and very sharp edge, things are looking good. 4 very comfortable passes with a smooth and very sharp blade. I admit I went for the epic shave and it worked. Zero blood, zero irritation, zero whiskers left. A perfect homage to QCS.

    Decadent December 2016 - Day 10

Route 66 is perfect for shavettes as well! Love the new scent and two passes later...you know the drill. Super busy day, hope to get caught up with the goings-on about TSD really soon. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a super Sunday!

    Schick Plus Platinum ( 13)
    Edwin Jagger Super Badger
    Old TOBS Avocado croap
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Original
    Royall Bay Rhum All-Purpose Lotion

I tried the EJ badger brush again but with a soap/cream I am very familiar with. Had no problem whipping up a nice yogurt-like lather which the brush spread pleasantly on my face in an even coating. I just needed to soak the brush a little longer and then shake it a bit drier than I did the first day.

Uneventful shave with no real need for the alum or the following products.

I finished off by using a trial sample of Royall Bermuda's Bay Rhum All-purpose Lotion instead of the Clubman VI Bay Rum I used for the last few shaves. The Royall product smells pleasantly of bay rum with an undertone of citrus; very little clove. It has some menthol in it, so on application, it gave facial warmth and then a little numbness. The residual scent almost smells like "woodsy campfire" to me.

Is it better than VI Bay Rum? I wouldn't say it is in scent although it is a bit different in the notes; in skin performance, the two seem much the same. I am glad I got to try it once (a free sample came with a Fendrihan order), but I highly doubt I will ever buy it for myself. To me, the differences between it and the Clubman VI version of bay rum are subtle, but the price differential is anything but: the Royall offering costs ten times as much.

Another consistently excellent shave this moring. The CH2 Synthetic whipped up the Route 66 Bay Lime Twist easily with the lime citrus scent adding an enjoyable layer to the shave. Two passes and minimal touch ended in a near BBS shave. I finished off with a splash of Folsom & Co Shambala. I hope everyone has a fantastic Sunday.

Great job, Neal! Your eloquently written post brought tears to my eyes. Your kind gesture and act of bravery represents so much more than good international blade relations. :sad024:

Congrats Adam! You pulled out all the stops for this shave. You chose a great razor and brush combo to pair with the Route 66. I'm glad you like the Bay Lime Twist scent. Kudos to Kathleen for picking it out just for you, and, oh, for making the soap too. She is awesome!

    Sunday Morning....

    -Stirling Sandalwood

I seldom shave in the mornings, so when I do, it is a relaxing treat. One way to make sure you take your time and relax, is to put a Feather Super into the 185 gram Mongoose. You don't have to use no pressure, you actually have to apply negative pressure to keep that behemoth off of your face.

The little Classic 2, which is an insanely dense brush, tore up the Haslinger, and helped put all the pieces of a perfect shave together.

My winter face has set in, and the I followed the Stirling Sandalwood Splash up with a little matching balm to keep me from looking like a lizard in a couple of hours.

I could not be more smooth.

Have a good new week, Gentlemen.

    December 11 SOTD:

    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    Route 66 Sweeney Todd
    Gillette Slim
    Stirling Unscented PSB
Ogallala Bay Rum with Lime and Peppercorns

I had a surprise package in the mail yesterday, as Charlie (@wristwatchb) had sent me a tub of Route 66 Sweeney Todd. I used it those morning, and let me say the scent is fantastic. Charlie and Kathleen did a great job in picking it out. In the jar, there is tons of that blood orange scent. When lathering, though, it opens up with a spiciness and a little woodsy scent. The orange is still prominent, but these other scents are there right underneath. It surprisingly complex, and I found myself just taking in the scent as I shaved. The performance, just as my other tub of Route 66, is certainly among the best of the soaps I have. I have generally preferred tallow based soaps, but Route 66 and Stubble Trubble have recently shown me that vegetarian soaps can easily compete with if not flat out top tallow soaps. I got an easy BBS this morning with just a little clean up, and my skin never felt better.

This was a great way to get me moving on this Sunday morning. I am looking forward to a great day, and I hope everyone else has a great day!
