The Haul: August 25th - August 31, 2008

Finally got myself a New Norfolk, top of my wish list for a long time. I actually want the silver one, but this one will tide me over. I am a huge fan of tuckaway style sets, so this is big for me. I also have a Norfolk with tuckaway handle on the way.

Also got my NOS slant today. Beautiful except for the crack, but it is solid, and I am very happy.

Sweet haul Rodd, that Merkur looks cool! What is the material the handle is made of?

Are they still being sold somewhere?

There are some on ebay still here
All of them have the crack, the seller said once these last ones sell he has more with a worse crack that will be listed. The picture in the listing is not too clear, I have a large copy here if you want to see it.
I don't know what the base metal on these would be, I would guess brass, but most of the Merkurs from this generation were silver plated.

am awaiting the arrival of an order from TSD store, two pucks each of Coffee and Cherry Cheesecake scented soap. According to the tracking info, it hit the local p.o. early this morning, but it is now 2:59pm and no mail in the box, might be Tuesday before it arrives. So close, yet so far.:angry032

 

You won't believe how many trips I've made to our mailbox this afternoon :rofl

We stopped at Home Depot on the way home tonight....needed a new shower head..


Bought a $50 Waterpick Linea shower head......the thing is a piece of junk and will be returned tomorrow



Steer clear of this piece of trash.....

 

It can be either hit or miss with those things, I bought a similarly priced showerhead a year or so back and it was also crap, then I bought a cheap supermarket one that works just great!

Good luck finding a new one! I'm on the lookout for one of those "rain" showerheads. They have those at the gym (combined with a "regular" hand piece) and I just love it!

 

With items like this I try to stay with the best which is German engineering
brands like GROHE.
cant believe this it looks good you paid a better then middle end price.

 

We had a fancy waterpick head for a long time, didn't think it was too bad, but then when I was redoing the shower in the now den, I put a $10 home depot special head on, and I liked it way more. Now we have 2 of them.

I guess I was just expecting a lot more quality from a mid to high end shower head. We also have some cheaper ones in the house... and they work well. I was a bit hesitant to buy it, should have went with my gut feeling.

Oh well, it will be returned and I am sure we will find something nice

The bulky casing you see is an inline filter that blocks out chlorine and other nasties.
