Nice pic. You did better at going outside than I did. Must be that Corps instilled toughness. :)

When my son was about that age my wife and I got up and I went in to check on him. He wasn't in his bed so we frantically began calling him and searching the house and couldn't find him. I ran outside and down to the lake fearing he had wandered down there and fallen in. No sign of anything. I ran out to the highway in case he had headed out there. Nothing . Back to the house where my wife was in hysterics. I was on the verge of calling the police when I happened to look under his bed, and there he was, fast asleep. Apparently he fell out of the bed, and rolled under it without ever waking up.

Irving Barber Shavette ~ Honeyfarm Designs/ TGN Finest ~ Stirling Glacial MITA ~ Stirling Glacial Lemon

This was my first shave with the Irving Barber shavette, and I love it. I have owned a few others, and in terms of build and quality it stomps them all, including the Feather AC. It was designed by a barber for barbers, and has some neat features. It takes AC, half DE, and injector blades. The head plate has magnets on it, so it holds the blade in place while you screw it back together. No fumbling. The entire thing comes apart to clean it. And it has a pretty serious heft to it. I am pretty impressed. It costs about the same as a Feather, but I think well worth it considering the build.

It was my first shavette shave for quite a while, and went smoothly enough. I did my normal three passes, but didn't push my luck on my neck. I have these stupid little hollows on both sides of my adams apple, and the hair grows in a swirl there. I basically need to hit it (very gently) from all four directions. I have never been able to do a sideways pass in, and it leaves me with two rough spots. Not going to complain, my face is super smooth, and only one one small nick when switching to my off hand. I have had much worse shaves.

Next months focus is going to be to figure out how to get my problem spots. Should be a fun month.

    Good night, all.

Very nice razor Jared. From your description, it seems to have a lot of nice extra features.

My oldest daughter once (she was about 13-14) got mad and told me she'd call DFS and report me for abuse. I walked over to her and told her to brace herself. I might as well make the call worth her time and mine. Her attitude went back to sweet in a big hurry. LOL And I wonder why she's such a smartass today.

    Barbasol Menthol Monday Edition

Decided to go for the light menthol effect... And a fine two pass shave was had by all. Another long day is over on the prairie. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a terrific Tuesday!

Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Alt Innsbruck

Today was my first shave with a Perma-Sharp Super blade, and it was great. My first impressions - super smooth and a touch sharper than an Astra SP. I'm curious to see how it performs over the next few shaves! Two passes with the R41, and I'm close to BBS.

Ivan and I met for lunch today (we had Borscht, Syrniki, and ice-cold Kvas), and I asked him to check on my shipment of Polsilver Super Iridiums. The package appears to be hung up in St. Louis at a mattress store of all places! He’s sending the boys to investigate. I suspect that someone there may be in for a “king size” surprise.

I hope you all had a great Monday.

What blade did you use? I had one from the first run and it didn't hold the blades tight enough. Did the blade move at all?

December Decadence and day 3 homage to QCS

It was a tea kettle and scuttle shave today. Ah nice hot lather for a chilly December morning. The QCS is great when it is hot. I used my Gemstar elk antler brush and a Hart Steel 6/8. The blade was smooth and sharp but the alum gave zero feedback. Finished BBS. Since November my straights shaves have become very consistent. :happy093:

I used an injector. It didn't move at all. I had read that the first ones had some trouble, but I also read that sometimes if the screw was over tightened on shorter blades, it clamped them down sort of crooked. I don't know if it was a widespread problem, something they fixed, or I got lucky? I just snubbed it up and it was tight as ever.

I thought (like a moron) that somehow the injector blades would be more nimble than the AC blades. Well, the holder is still the same length. DUH. I do like that it uses all of three styles though.

Thanks, I am very tempted to buy again if they fixed the issue. My problem was the blades would wiggle after tightening.
