There are similar products called Veet and Nair that are marketed to women as leg and bikini line creams. i believe they work the same way by melting the hair. And there's a similar powder to be mixed into a paste with water that's sold on eBay for both sexes for "intimate" body hair. I must admit with that one there are some places I am even warier about melting hair...

Ivan was, as usual, drunk. I believe he didn't explain the situation quite right. It's not that the package is "hung up" as much as "being held up". Did he mention the word "ransom" at any point? "Delivery fee", perhaps?

That sounds better than the version 1 model I used. Looking forward to reading about your experiences with it.

    Decadent December!!

    December 12

Razor - 1959 Gillette Ball End Tech
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
Soap - TSD Lanolin Bay Rum
    Brush - Omega Pro 48
    Post - Alum

Decided that I'd give the Feather its third day and go ahead and go milder on the razor. Day one was on the Fatip, day two on the Super Speed, so the Tech would seem a fitting final shave to go milder. I was cleaning my cabinet by my desk today and found what remains of my tub of TSD Bay Rum Lanolin soap. It's the ring of death but plenty to work with so hey, why not? A change from the Route 66 but still a Lanolin soap. Haven't used it in several months. The Pro 48 should do nicely loading from the bottom of the container and working up a lather.

Notice I said it "should". It did manage to get a load started but just didn't seem to want to pull much more. So, I added a bit of water which helped only minimally and then got my Seaforth mug to try a mug lather. By adding even more water to the mug I was able to get the lather where I needed it. Lather done, with a bit of extra work but hey.....all good things come to those who wait.....and work on it in the meantime.

The Feather was smooth with the Tech yet very effective. Sharp blade, mild razor. A winning combo. Two passes later and it's near BBS and the alum is relatively quiet. I'd say a very fine shave. Comparing it to yesterday's with the Super Speed they are very close. The SS did find the baby. The Tech nearly did. Either way, great shaves. And even the Fatip was awesome in its own harsh and slightly bloody way.

That's three days on the Japanese Feather in honor of @wristwatchb ! I'll figure out where to go for tomorrow before I shave tomorrow. Obviously, eh? But in honor of "Murica's Favorite Blade", from its Japanese origins, I leave you with this.

One of my neighbors (35+/- y.o. black guy) uses the cream product. I've let him borrow an old 3pc DE to do the scraping. Not on his face, he uses on his head but leaves his beard in a Mr.T style. The product does work. I watch him apply the cream, wait a couple minutes, and use the bar guard of the DE to scrape the cream & hair off. One tube might be two or three applications. It gives him a clean finish with no stubble. The smell is harsh. I offered some AS to knock the smell off that lingered after he's finished. He liked the Osage Rub!

    INGREDIENTS;
Water , Mineral Oil , Cetearyl Alcohol , Thioglycolic Acid , Calcium Hydroxide , Propylene Glycol , Ceteareth-20 , Lithium Magnesium Sodium Silicate , Sodium Hydroxide , Fragrance , Ceteth-2 , Shea Butter

I thought about Nair when I was looking at it and wondered how close they are in composition. And yes, there are certain places that should never have anything related to "melting" applied.

Thioglycolic Acid. I'm not putting anything on my face that includes Acid. I looked it up....it's actually used in tanning leather as well (dipilation of the hide) as well as a precurser to another product that is used in Permanents for hair. I would think Osage Rub could be good for two reasons.....smell reduction and COOLING!

So maybe it fulfills two purposes in the formula - removing hair and also getting an early start on the tanning or weathering of the now-exposed hide before you go back out into the sunlight...

Welcome @MrHallelujah ! You skipped right past the rest of the Forum and came right to the beating heart of TSD.com. This is THE place to try new gear, learn proper technique, and hear about how guys who've been shaving for decades still get blood on steel. If you have lurked for a while - don't be shy. Tell us about your set up? Chances are several folks have experience using the same hardware or software.
If you haven't picked up on this months theme, many of us are doing a Decadent December. We just came off No Variation November that followed Open Comb October and Single Edge September. Themes are optional. The idea is to stick with something long enough to develop the skill and techniques to enjoy your shaves. The Shenanigans are a bonus!

Welcome aboard! And welcome to the 30 Day Crew! If you think it feels decadent now, two things. 1) It just gets better and better. 2) It just gets even better than that. Ask anything you'd like or need to know and jump on in! We're not as crazy as we seem. Mostly.

Only about five inches. I just really love to get out and shovel! I hate icy surfaces, and enjoy my time outdoors. I team up with my neighbor across the street. We are some shoveling maniacs.

If you feel like the blade is not cutting in an efficient manner, lower the attack angle slightly. And fwiw, there are no appreciably sharper injector blades to be had. It feels different on your face because the blade is much thicker and stiffer than DE. The bevel is different than DE and have faith, Schick blades are more than shark enough if used at a low angle.

Oh yeah. Schick G is a gateway drug to straight razors. You've been warned. ;)

You guys may have missed the point. You never asked @RyX whose blood was on the steel.
