The acid damages the hair shaft's outer layer to prepare the hair for removal. The Calcium Hydroxide (similar to drain opener) does the heavy lifting, generating the lovely sulphurous aroma generally described as burning flesh.

Finding out that answer might just lead to even more blood, and then we need more steel, which creates more blood, then steel then.....it all ends up being......

Yeah, all this Furious posting wears me out. I think I'll do a line of Oreos and binge a couple episodes of Shameless to calm down.

At what point do you think the Feds start monitoring this thread? Between my drug dealer/pusher remarks and your line of Oreos we may be close to the line. :scared003:

December 12 - Decadent Monday repeat of Supply Provision SE Sunday

    Razor: Supply Provision SE injector
Blade: vintage Personna Injector II (2 and done)
    Brush: nameless drugstore boar
    Soap: Supply Provision tallow Juniper
After: cold water, alum, no Thayers Witch Hazel
Balm: Supply Provision post shave balm Juniper

I repeated yesterday except I used my old standby brush because it's my default for trying new soaps and I wanted to compare it to the Supply Provision synthetic I used yesterday. Both brushes worked the SP tallow soap well; I actually got a better, thicker lather yesterday with the synthetic though. I think I skimped a little on my bowl lathering tonight and the lather was a little runnier than I like.

What I found interesting was that even with overly runny lather, the SP soap still provided perfectly adequate slipperiness and glide protection during the shave and a very silky skin feel afterwards. Getting a perfect lather clearly doesn't matter with this soap.

My usual two crisscross passes gave me a near BBS on the face and an almost equally good DFS on the neck with absolutely no irritation of any kind. The alum didn't sting anywhere. For the first time ever, I skipped using the Thayers Witch Hazel, because I didn't need it and also because the SP lotion I was going to use has witch hazel in it anyway.

The SP post shave balm completed a most pleasant shave with good skin moisturizing in our currently very dry air and a mild scent.

The only thing I wasn't completely pleased about (apart from the aesthetics of my lather) was the twinjector blade. The shave was fine, although no better than I have obtained with normal injector blades. However the edges of the twin blade got all gummed up with whiskers and soap scum and were impossible to rinse clean. I hate leaving my razor in the rack sporting stubble and scum like it belongs to someone who has never heard of cleaning his gear -- so I junked the blade with 2 shaves on it. I will stick to single injector blades from now on.

Wouldn't "they" have to prove that the Oreos referred to were illegal "street" Oreos and not ones legally prescribed by a doctor to avert "midnight munchy" syndrome?

Up for today’s shave is the maiden voyage of the Option Five Razor. The razor is made of Nickel Alloy and is on the heavy side at 120 grams or 4.2 ounces. It is looks very futuristic and is advertised to appeal to both men and women. It is so very different from all my other razors, that I am surprised at how much I like the looks of the razor. I loaded up a new Feather blade. I found the blade to be very easy to load and the blade exposure even on both sides. The handle appeared like it would be slippery with wet hands but this is not the case. I had no issues with the handle slipping during use. I did find myself gripping the razor in the waist section of the handle. Going with a three pass shave, WTG, XTG & ATG followed by touch ups ended in my usual near BBS. I found the razor to be mild, not as mild as a Merkur 34c, but efficient. You can really hear the razor cut the whiskers especially on the XTG pass. Even though it is the first shave, I am impressed with the Option 5 razor. I will continue using the razor alternating it with the R1 Calypso over the next week or so. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

Great picture, Clint! I really like how that razor looks. Sounds like it shaves well, too.
