You've listed two of the more finicky soaps, MWF & Mystic Water, to lather. You are on the right track soaking the puck. Shake out all the water from the brush and that might help loading. If you have other brushes give them a try. Sometimes I just have better luck with certain brush/soap combos.

The razor is a big DE razor so it just uses normal DE blades.

Mark, that is a great background for your razor and brush combo!

I use a synthetic with MWF, and have found that I have to start with a dry brush. The water ratio is the trick with this soap, so you'll have to do some experimenting to get it right.

Today's Focus shave went as expected with one exception. Apparently Bolzano blades like a more aggressive setting. I left my SA-109 set on "7" for both passes and got a much better shave than yesterday. I may jack it up to "8" tomorrow. Have a great day Gents.

Totally random...sorry for the delay, Stirling Gentleman is a fine shave, but I don't love the scent totally.

My experience with Bolzano is that they smooth out on day two. As long as you find the angle after you hit 8, the razor should cut very smoothly. Glad to see it went well!

Thanks. I was glad too. They did not work out in my DE89. I have one left in the tuck, so I'm probably going to give it a shot in my NEW in January when I do a Focus for it. Then I'll have my rotation set, DE89, SA-109, and NEW SC.

Sounds like a pretty strong lineup to me.

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

The Fat prefers a dry(er) brush but a wetter puck. At least that's the formula that works best for me. I always soak the puck for about 15 minutes before using it, and soak the brush as well, just make sure I shake it out well to be no more than damp.

    Day 4 of QCS homage.

Once again I used the kettle and the scuttle to make some hot lather, a Thäter silver tip and PRC Chimera rounded today's decadent shave.

This stuff is great when hot, it is a shame they are shutting down. By the 3rd pass it felt like an epic shave was in reach. Finished out the 4th pass and sure enough a decedent epic shave befitting the QCS homage.

I ended up grating my MWF and pressing it into a shave stick. Worked great!

How do you like the Tabac? I'm finishing up a shave stick right now, and it performs wonderfully for me. Some folks don't like the scent, but I don't mind it.
