SWMBO loves Tabac. It's her favorite scent of all of my soaps. I even bought some of the cologne just for her. Plus I like it as well. It took me a bit to figure out what the scent really is. Last year when I was selling cars we had a trade in come on the lot. It had been through detail but one thing detailing won't kill is the smell of cigarette smoke in a vehicle if it was smoked in a lot. This particular car had leather seats/interior. When I popped the door open and that first scent hit me - that tobacco/leather combination.....TABAC!!

Nice fairly relaxing day today. A visit to the lawyer to sign a few papers, some grocery shopping, a nap, hanging out here some and, in just a bit, time to shave. Head and face since it's Tuesday.

I happened to be playing around on my phone and found something that might be of interest. If you're bored or just need some reading material, it's a short article but it may have some application here.

    You'll find it HERE

Mix 1 part MWF to 9 parts Tabac for a fantastic lather. For outdoor shaves during the summer months, add a smidge of Arko to ward off flying insects and cure athlete's foot.

Thanks Charlie. The razor was just released to market last month. I saw the release posted one of the British shaving forums an decided to give it a go.

I've never used a shave stick before, so it was a new & different experience. I may try palm lathering with it tomorrow.

Just hanging a puck of Williams is incredibly more effective. Can't rub it on my feet though. It makes them smell bad.

Sorry for the inactivity the past few days. Been working a ton and have been to exhausted to shave or form coherent sentences. Day off tomorrow after a lovely 18 hour shift today. Will shave in the morning and get back to you all sometime after catching up on some sleep.

Don't know how I am still standing but on the plus side everyone left the restaurant happy so all in all a successful day... Now off to curl up with a cold beer and watch the game I missed yesterday.

It's one of those Essential Experiences. Fortunately Pinaud products are inexpensive. Either you're Chosen & Heroic, or you have a PIF.

I haven't tried Tabac yet. ( Or MWF either. I'm a slacker shaver) Does the scent compare to Clubman Special Reserve AS/Cologne?

    B-V3.1 / NOTSO comb & Chick blade
Alum block, Canoe AS and Cologne

Today's decadence began with my first lathering of a Route66 product, thanks to Charlie @wristwatchb . Huge tub, great scent (Thanks Kathleen!), and easy loading with a Tuxedo knot secured in Tom's @twhite homage to the Rubberset 400 handle. I didn't need to bloom the soap, just a 15-20 second rub with the nearly dry knot. Into suribachi with a few added drops of water piled up plenty of lather. It's slick, didn't break down, gave plenty of glide for the Bunny's sharp tooth. Got my three passes, did some bunny slides, a little cleanup, and had lather to spare. I do like how the Rout66 soap rinses easy out of equipment and off my face. Took the obligatory alum swipe, and it was cool. A splash of Canoe complimented the soaps scent, so I added a dash of cologne before I left the house. It's a few hours later now. No adverse reaction to the lanolin. Quite the contrary. My face does feel good. Decadent!
    Good Shaves Y'all!

He actually looks pretty good for halfway through. Must have been a slow night. Walk ins were never my thing. When I was a GM I needed a closed office door where I could chew the filter off of the cigarette I was smoking to avoid killing (name the most recent offender) before going back on the floor to raise my BP a little more.

If you're not sensitive to lanolin it's the best way to turn a shave decadent, in my opinion at least.

    Razor - 1946-47 Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade - rapira-platinum-lux.jpg (1)
    Soap - Tabac
    Brush - Semogue 620
    Post - Alum

Time to bring the decadence home again, this time with my best vintage razor and another fine Muscovite blade. After three fun days on the Feather with three different razors I'm ready to settle down and do a few days with a modified detente setup. Usually I pair the Aristocrat with the Voskhod but I'm subbing in the Rapira Platinum Lux. Not my favorite of the Mostochlegmash blades but....any of them are better than most others. And, the Lux is one of the top blades they make.

Tabac and the Semogue for the lather. I got a new puck of Tabac today that I had ordered so I need to use up the old one. It has a nice crack through the middle about to break into the ring of death so not too much longer.

Great lather, slick, lots of cushion, that great Tabac scent, and the Crat and Lux were absolutely smooth. I think the Aristocrat may be the best razor Gillette ever made. While the Super Speed is a lot more common and performs exceptionally well, the extra weight and added aggressiveness (not much) of the Aristocrat just gives it a fantastic feel and result. Two pass and touch up and a near BBS is done and I'm more than happy with that. Such fine work from the Russki tonight I finished with alum on the outside (nice and quiet) and a shot of vodka on the inside (nice and warm).

Nope, not gonna do it. Not going to succumb to the peer pressure, the enabling, the funny raccoons. There will be no Clubman Special Reserve in my A/S collection. Until Monday the 19th when the order arrives. :angry032:
