We do the Kentucky windage, I don't change sights for wind. With prairie dogs, you either miss completely or kill them instantly.

I had a pretty rough save on day 4 of one of my feathers and decided to only use them for three days. How many days have you been using your feathers? Maybe my issue was technique.

I used one blade for 5 shaves in my Gillette 195 and now am on this one with 6 shaves in a Tech.

In the past I've used them from 2 to 10 shaves. They seem to last longest in milder razors like the Tech and less so in more efficient razors.

Outstanding near BBS shave tonight with products I really enjoy. The Route 66 is a nostalgic stroll down memory lane with this light, clean, slightly sharp powdery fragrance. Bright orange zest, mingled with hints of aromatic spices reminiscent of a splash of aftershave in a traditional barbershop. This soap is as slick as slick can be. I don't believe I've used a shave soap that is more slick than a Route 66 shave soap. I think I could paint a house with this brush. This is truly a lather monster. The finish with Old Spice Fresh Lime was the icing on the cake.

Decadent December continued and day 3 with Route 66 Cavendish

Today's tools are tea kettle, scuttle, a brush I purchased on Etsy and a Rasurpur western grind kami.

As soon as the Route 66 hit the hot scuttle the scent filled the room, I was surprised how much it increased the scent. I loaded like the tub owed me money and was a week late. I was rewarded with awesome hot lather, the Route 66 performed great while hot. The Raspur has a wickedly sharp edge but was still smooth. Four passes and just a tiny weeper, no feedback from the alum and a long lasting BBS. If it was not for the tiny weeper this would have been epic.

    Start Of Vacation/Date Night Shave

Surprisingly slow easy day at work today and my vacation has now started. My Stirling order arrived today and just in time. Tonight is date night with my lovely bride and my order is filled to the brim with her favorite scent.. "Executive Man". Also in my order I bought two new brushes, a 24mm Finest Badger 24mm Fan and a 26mm Finest. Not knowing which one to pick I decided to chose based on the only fool proof mature way I know. Enie, meany, miney, moe.... The 24mm Fan was chosen.

Usual Pre Shave routine which is throwing some water on the puck of soap to bloom it while I am in the shower. In the shower I washed away the work day with Stirling Executive Man Bath Soap. Rub a dub dub I flew out the tub and up to the sink to start my shave. Rehydrated my facial hair with the water off the puck and grabbed my brush and starting loading it. 20 seconds of loading and I had enough lather on the brush to shave a yak. Started face lathering and once I had the lather on the way I wanted it I grabbed my Goose and went to town. 3 drama free passes later and I am BBS with no nicks, irritation, or MAYhem-like cursing whatsoever.

After my shave I finished off with a cold water rinse, Stirling Unscented Witch Hazel, another cold water rinse, Stirling Executive Man Aftershave W/Menthool, Stirling Executive Man Aftershave Balm, and seeing how the pre shave oil doubles as a beard oil I added some to my goatee. Feeling good, smelling great, looking....questionable... :sad029:.

I'll catch up with you all later or sometime tomorrow as I am getting ready to head out the door. Made a joke to SWMBO that we were going to Mcdonalds but only ordering off the dollar menu.....she really needs to work on her sense of humor...:scared003:

Did a fair amount of dog shooting when I worked in oil country in western North Dakota. We were busy enough we never really had time to hit patches that weren't picked over pretty hard. Those dogs smarten up pretty hard.

(Edit: This was a few years before the boom hit. I would assume those towns are long gone by now.)

Here's a fun dog hunting vid, from right when this caliber (204) was getting hot.

I have the Cavendish and black pearl scent. I think I am going to do decadent January with black pearl. Have used both scents before and absolutely love them.

Have been shaving using this setup for 2 weeks now.
    Merkur 34c razor
    Astra superior stainless blade
    TOBS Jermyn st hard soap
    Osma alum block
Lather and woods odorless aftershave balm
Usual preshave routine. Hot shower, some water in the soap to bloom it, and soaking the brush in warm water. Am doing 3 passes. First pass WTG, last 2 passes XTG left to right and then right to left. I have been getting really nice close shaves. Although I get a bit of irritation on the neck area and that may just be due to lack of experience. I have been wet shaving with this razor for about 6 months now. Apart from the minor irritation I am enjoying the shaves with astra superior stainless blades. Don't know if I will have to just suffer the irritation or it will become better as time passes.

Also I would like to point out that I only use the blade for 3 shaves. At the price for 100 blades I don't really see the need to be stingy and run the risk of a bad shave.

Couldn't help myself - the Route66 is great soap! Moistened the Jayaruh brush and swiped a little water over the puck as I was choosing this evenings tools. That softened the soap for an excellent load of product. The Maggard's knot whipped up a thick slick suribachi bowl full in no time. Got in two full passes - WTG & XTG with the Bantam shavette using shorter, more deliberate strokes. Better reduction that trying for a longer pattern. Working in some ATG but it takes time to rediscover technique not committed to muscle memory. Aristo clean up especially on my neck and nick prone chin. Deliberation and caution awarded cool alum application. After sniffing several aftershaves I went with the Bravo. I haven't tried Tabac yet, but it's been compared. It blends well with the Route66 soap scent. Good Shaves Y'all!

How are you doing with riding the cap on your neck? Have you figured out your growth directions yet?

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

Thanks. I've had that razor now for just over two years. When I first started I joined up on another forum and ran into another guy from STL. He had a few for sale including that one. I knew exactly zero about it but it looked nice and the price he quoted me was around the same it was pulling on the bay so I went for it. I've never regretted it. I have considered having it replated but it really isn't in bad enough shape overall to warrant it. On the inside there are a few spots that are showing some brassing so at some point I'll take care of it.

Ditched work this morning to go see Star Wars. No regrets. Also national Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. Check and Check. This razor used to have obnoxious orange scales. Sent it to Glen to do his magic on. Dubl Duck Satinwedge 5/8, with new acrylic scales and an inlay transfer, along with bluing added to the tang and spine. The spike tip had been muted, but was no longer muted after being honed. I realized this right after I made a 1 inch slice under my ear. Decadence today was my Jeeves of Hudson Street soap, favorite brush, and the hands down best performing balm I have used. Jobonman in the Dama de Noche (jasmine) scent. Other than the heavily bleeding spot under my ear, it was a good shave. Remember kids, peroxide will get blood out of the fancy towels you aren't supposed to be using.
