Fantastic photo. You and Doug are my inspiration braving the cold. My outdoor photos are much easier in comparison.

I never take more than three out of a Feather.

My biggest problem with them is that the first shave is never as smooth, the second and third are phenomenal, and downhill from there.

Thank you. At least ours is just a drizzling rain and not the frozen stuff.

I used to have the same issue but after using the Feather AC blades and Feather DE blades exclusively I really don't notice anymore.

    December 17

Muhle R41 head (2013) & Weber Bulldog handle
    Perma-Sharp Super (4)
    Edwin Jagger XL Synthetic
    Tabac
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Pinaud Clubman

I've been hangin' in there with this setup, except for skipping one day and using my Braun on another day. After the fourth shave, the Perma-Sharp Super blade shows no signs of slowing down. I'll use it at least one more time. I've never used the same DE blade for five shaves. One pass and a few touch-ups this morning, and I'm super close according to feel and my Bride's 10x mirror.

I even performed two overhead ATG passes on the back of my neck in order to remove the scruff and clearly display my red neck. I do this about twice a week to give the false impression that I'm a true gentleman. ;) Disclaimer: I'm not brave enough to try this maneuver with my Pain Stick yet.

I'm not crazy about the synthetic brush. It makes a good, but not great, lather. I'm sure it's me not taking enough time. I'm still finishing up the last of my Tabac. I've been finishing it for the past month or so. It really lasts, and it's a top performer for me.

I'm catching up on the thread today and enjoying all the fantastic set ups and creative photography. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. :santa

    December 17 SOTD:

    Razorock Plissoft Brush
    WSP Barbershop SS
    Gillette Fatboy
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    WSP Barbershop AS

Secret Santa shave today. I got the brush, soap, and AS from the from my Secret Santa yesterday, so I had to break it out today. This was my first use of a WSP soap, and my first impression is that it is a good soap. The scent is great. I am a fan of barbershop scents, and this fits nicely in that category. I used a Feather blade in the Fatboy, which may be a first for me. I have to say, this was quite possibly the smoothest shave I have ever gotten from a first use of a feather blade. I got an easy DFS and almost chased the baby around, but my 10 month old was getting up, and I figured that would mean enough baby chasing for the morning. The Barbershop AS had me smelling nice as my wife and I got ready to head out for a little last minute Christmas shopping. I hope everyone has a great day!

  15. SharptoothC

    SharptoothC I bite..........

3 days into my Voskhod journey, I'm getting significantly more irritation than usual. I still end up with a close shave though. I suspect that because the blade does not feel sharp I am applying more pressure than usual, though lighter strokes don't seem to be garnering much in the way of results. I am using my usual favorite razor (RazoRock German 37 Slant), and have not used any new products besides the new blades. Suggestions/tips? I am hoping it is technique related and not a response to the coating on the blades.

Adam, that's a beautiful razor. The spike tip looks dangerous. Heal quickly.
