This morning was day two of my Feather Black audition. Yesterday's shave was so good there was not a lot of growth this morning. So I dialed it down to "6" on the SA, lathered up some Trumper GFT and had at it. Finished off with some Aramis AS(HouseHold 6's favorite) and headed off to work. Have a great day everyone.:santa

Wow! Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. Not much you can do about the scent, but I wonder how it would perform in a Superlather?

I'm not sure. I thought about this, but it's a non-lathering product itself. I suppose you could rub it on first like a preshave oil and then put your lathering soap over it. Except, if your main soap is good, why bother, and if it's not, I am not so sure the Burt's Bees is going to fill in the deficiencies.

That's what I was thinking. The only reason to fool with it would be if you love the scent enough. Sounds like a negatory.

I'm pleased you feel that way. Us FatBoy Fanbois aren't only boosting the value by talking up the beauty. These well engineered tools perform well for 50+ year old tech. As much as I enjoy trying other blade holding devices my first 195 is the standard by which I judge all others.
Thanks to the 30 Day Leaders for inducing me to develop the technique to be able to use mine on setting nine!

    12/19/16 - Feather Focus

I'm continuing with my Feather blade focus during December. Today I moved to a Gillette NEW LC. Everything worked quite well and this combo took down 3 days worth of stubble in 2 passes.

Have you had that Gillette replated or coated? If so, who did the work? It looks really good in your photo.

Yes, I had it redone by Delta Echo, so it has the gun kote.

A close to excellent shave this morning. As I promised @Bama Samurai I put a snapped Voskhod in the shavette today. I say close to excellent, because I managed to poke myself with the stupid corner of the DE blade about five times trying to clean up my neck. Just not paying enough attention, I guess. It definitely requires a little more attention than using an injector or AC blade in it.

Not sure, but it almost seems like I would maybe be better off if I just used a different shavette for DE. Just to tell your brain you are using a different razor. I don't shave the same way with my Mongoose as I do with a Schick G, and I don't have to think too much about it. Too soon to tell.

As far as the software goes, Soap Commander simply rocks, and the Kramperts is just so good for a guy's skin. It is the ultimate menthol aftershave to use in the winter.

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

My samples from Route 66 arrived today and I need to figure out which one to try tonight. I could randomly pick one, choose one that I think I would prefer or, how about I let you all vote? Yeah, that will work. Here are the three I have to choose from. Just tell me which you vote for and the winner gets to show off tonight.

Of those three, I have only tried bourbon jungle. It is just outstanding. That said, I vote Black Pearl because I haven't heard as much about it.

Razor: Gillette Executive Gold Adjustable Fat Boy (F 1) 1960.
    Blade: Kai Stainless Steel (5)
Brush: Elite Razor Gold Laced Black Onyx Tuxedo
    Soap: Route 66 Frozen Margarita
Aftershave: Route 66 Frozen Margarita Balm

The handle is made of Gold Laced Onyx, which is a member of the chalcedony family which also includes carnelian, agate, bloodstone etc. Occurring naturally in a variety of colours, Black Onyx is polished to enhance appearance , a member of the quartz family. The name comes from the Greek word onyx which means nail of a finger or claw. Legend says that one day while Venus was sleeping Eros/Cupid cut her fingernails and left the clippings scattered on the ground. Because no part of a heavenly body can die, the gods turned them into stone which later became known as Onyx.
The Tuxedo knot worked very well.

Gorgeous! That knot did top it off perfectly.

Thanks very much. I think this knot may be a keeper. The brush came with a 2 Band, however, I found it very floppy and it was not very dense. Not a quality knot IMO. So I removed it and put in the Tuxedo.
