  1. I tried a vintage Personna Injector II blade with my Supply Provision Single Edge, version 1. I found that I can't inject those blades but I can load them manually quite easily at the same time I switch base plates. It takes about an extra half minute to unscrew the base plate, fit the blade against the blade stops, and then to screw the whole thing back together again. Not a big deal, and the twin blades will work with any of the plates.

I shaved a couple times with the twin blades on the mild plate and had quite a pleasant shave. However, I didn't really feel I got a better or closer shave than I normally get from a regular injector blade, and the twin blades tended to clog up with stubble and soap scum. I junked the twin blade after two uses and went back to using single blades.

That's not a reflection on the razor, however, but on the twin blade concept itself. If you like using the vintage twin blades, then you will enjoy doing so with this razor.

(And if anybody is interested, I have 9 unopened blister-packaged cartridges with 6 Personna Injector II blades in them and one opened pack with 5 blades that I am never going to use...)
  2. Thanks very much for the info on using the Twin Blade.

  4. Loading the O-Clone with vintage twins was a struggle (blade loading is the weakness of the O-C) but once set an unexpectedly sublime shave resulted. Actually the first completely irritation free BDBS full beard and head shave in a while (after using mostly DE and AC blades). AOS tallow Sandalwood and the MFF pre shave didn't hurt. Pure Argan after the mango flavored Witch Hazel to top off a great Sunday shave.

  5. Same for me, tried three different Pal razors and was left feeling underwhelmed as much as I wanted them to be as awesome as everyone else claimed.
  6. Schick type D Sunday

Loaded with a Chick blade my little type D provides the smoothest 2 pass (wtg/xtg) shave of any razor in my den.

    Blade
    : Chinese Schick
Straight Razor: Genco (sorry, I don't know the specifics)
    Rescue Razor: Schick I1 injector
    Brush: JR #60 synthetic
    Lather: TSD Barber Shoppe
Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD Barber Shoppe aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm
WTG, touch-up (basically, but really couldn't keep it on track due to using the straight)

First attempt with a straight razor today. Very interesting. I only did my cheeks and tried to get near the corners of my mouth. I was TERRIFIED to try my neck at all. I did WTG on my cheeks twice. I was tempted to continue and try my chin or neck, but decided that baby steps are better and put it down in favor of the Schick I1. Finished off everything with the I1 for a decent shave.

I had one tiny cut (more like a scrape, really) just below my jawline. But other than that no blood letting. Don't think I'll have much or any irritation. It was a different experience for sure.

Have a great rest of Sunday!

  15. Excellent, look forward to your thoughts. :)
  16. My favorite of the post war Schick's I can find no fault with the I2. Shaves as beautifully as it looks, from my perspective subsequent design changes in the J-N series did not improve on the curiously short lived I. Very enjoyable BBS shave with the Plus Platinum.
