Decadent December 2016 - Winter Solstice (day 21)

So good, so decadent...love Route 66! Two passes for quiet alum and the AV finish. It's vacation time on the prairie, and it may snow on Christmas Day. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a great Thursday!

Well, like they say in Mother Russia, as long as you get within a millimetre or two of it, it's all good, Comrade... Just what you want to hear the person setting your blade gap say...

Rockwell with 5Plate/Voskhod (3) ~ Zenith Boar ~ Stirling Black Ice Soap and Splash

Because Decadent December is almost over, I am finding that I still have some fantastic hardware that has been neglected and needs to be used. Hardware might be the most appropriate term for the Rockwell, because it could easily serve double duty as a tack hammer the next time I have to fix a piece of baseboard in the house. I always thought it should be the official safety razor of Snap-On tools.

All kidding aside, while it may not be my favorite razor, it is probably my best. It shaves me like a lazer, and is definitely a hand me down for future generations. I not only recommend it to anyone who asks, I bought one for my son, who loves it enough that he now stays clean shaven, and shaves his head once a week or so.

@crackstar always gets me all gung ho about menthol in the wintertime, so as I write this, I am sitting in my chair with tears rolling out of my eyes because last summer I added a buttload (maybe a hair too much?) of menthol to my Black Ice A.S.. I feel like I just got my butt kicked by a giant black jelly bean. I love it. :)

Have a good day, you guys.

The week is going by so quickly. Alternating razors, I am back to my B2 Mongoose loaded with a Feather Super Pro. This is razor/blade combo that I judge other razors against. I consistently get drama free, exceptionally close and long lasting shaves with this set up. This morning's shave was more of the same. I hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday.

    Hello Guys - today's shave:

    rdt2212 Kopie.jpg

    - Faena Olympian
    - Jayaruh #129
    - T.W. Lang "The Gaelic"
    - Tüff sensitiv Rasierwasser

The "Gaelic" was my first straight razor - a lucky catch on Ebay. Very smooth razor with quite a lot of acoustic feedback. Love the handle. I have to use some caution when I strop it though. The tang has an unusual shape as well and it's prone to slip out of your fingers.

Oh and - Faena is a fantastic soap. Very slick lather, great cushioning. Olympian is a special edition made for the German wet shaving forum "Gut rasiert". It is a pretty light scent, sort of a woody barbershop with some frankincense. Post shave it might not be quite on par with my top performers like CRSW or Mystic Water, but it's still very good.

    Have a great day y'all :happy088:

Gillette PreWar Canadian Tech / Topaz Platinum (1)
B+B special edition purple Omega boar brush
    TOBS Avocado croap
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Lavender

After a week spent trying out brushless products, I fell back on the comfort of my old not-quite-used-up tub of TOBS Avocado croap whipped into a nice yogurty lather by a hefty Omega boar brush. Shave provided by a simple Gillette Tech. The familiar standby can be a real pleasure to use after a time spent with strange new things.

All in all a good DFS shave.

    Razor: F2 Gillette FatBoy (3)
    Blade: GSB (3)
    Brush: VdH Boar
    Soap: Mineral Fusion

I skipped yesterday for time reasons and meant to bump the FatBoy to '4' to deal with the extra. It turns out, though, it wasn't necessary as I had a very close, pleasant shave for an overall DFS.

Today was the last shave for the Feather Black. No work tomorrow, so no shave. As a matter of fact, probably no shave 'till Christmas Day. Feather is in the lead as of now. However Gillette 7 o'clock green is up next followed by Voskhods. Looks like my January Focus( for my NEW) will start a week late. Have a great day everyone!! :santa

Unusual for me, I shaved two days in a row. I wasn't happy with yesterday's shave, and had visible stubble this morning. Really focused on skin stretching and angles with the big duck, and got a nice DFS and silent Alum. Great soap and aftershave feel today too.

Related note. Auto-Correct and the phrase "big duck." No phone, it is duck. What you are suggesting is not at all what I am trying to say.
